A spontaneous discussion that started this month:

http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/975312/posts

What is most rewarding about this one is looking at some of the earlier Free Republic threads about us and then comparing them to this new one.  Look at the way the naysayers just vanish over time.

Check out the first few posts under this thread (Nov 2002) to find links to the early FR discussions about us.

I posted our 5,000 member press release to Free Republic.   The FReepers usually discuss our press releases, etc.  pretty heaviily.

Dada, thanks. I signed up - 8/15/2003 11:34 pm - after reading your post. I like to think fast - this had been something I'd thought about a long time - but had never heard of you folks before.

These guys are grade-A putzes, 13-year old snot-nosed weiners who think they're cool because they curse under the slide at the playground behind their school and once could nearly make out all of a woman's breast despite the heavy scrambling of the Playboy channel by their satellite provider.

Let them live under the mantle of their own self-inflicted welfare skankiness. Let them insult us from a distance; if any one of them enters my home, New Hampshire state law gives me the right to kill them. ;D

Really? Does he even know what a "granola eater" is? Quaker should start marketing heavily in NH in the next few years if he is right. <G>

Diana

PS -- going to check the boards out now. let them know *this* porcupine loves granola, but I wouldn't want to speak for anyone else ;)

That Yahoo board seems like a condensed taste of much of the
ignorance that we'll be running into as the project progresses.
The key is to keep our heads and not resort to their level.

Even though the one person you might be arguing with will only
comprehend things at his level, there are many other readers
who will be turned off by such diatribe.

My favorite had to be the guy who said all Libertarians are white, straight men. He must have mixed us up with the Republicans.

While not as political in nature, the Debate & Discussion subforum at http://forums.somethingawful.com discusses the FSP occasionally.

Well, in all honestly, ALL of the Yahoo message boards are filled with asinine remarks from trolls of all flavors.  It's like some kind of release for them to spew whatever outrageous thoughts they have with the protection of their cyberspace anonymity.

But, the good news is that Yahoo, the #1 traffic site on the web, has a headline feature to this story!  This will undoubtedly result in a heavy influx of signups.  Great job, Jason and everyone else who helped pull this off!

Just wanted to remind people that sometimes talking on other sites can attract new members.
