Summer activities in NH
« on: April 15, 2004, 02:05:02 pm »

Hi folks -

A few days ago Dave Mincin asked Jim and I a very simple question. "What do people do around here for fun?" Since moving to NH, Dave has done almost nothing that doesn't have something to do with the FSP and wanted to know what he could do to kick back and relax now and then. That got Jim and I thinking that other new arrivals may be having the same problem.

So, we've decided to let everyone know about our plans for the summer and would like to invite others to join us. It would be fun to get a group together to go to some of the events and activities we have planned. Even if our plans don't interest anyone, maybe this will spark some discussion on other fun things to do in NH. Eventually we could organize the ideas and publish them somewhere.

So here are the things we have planned. Let me know if anyone is interested in joining us. We already have tickets for all the Meadowbrook Farms events, so we couldn't sit together, but lots of people have tailgate parties before and after the concerts.

May 6-9 - Camping at Acres of Wildlife in Steep Falls, Maine (207-675-2267)

May 27-31 - Camping at Little Ponderosa in Boothbay Harbor, Maine (207-633-2700)

June 4 - Bob Dylan concert at Meadowbrook Farms in Gilford

June 23-27 - Week of the Porcupine Fest and Liberty Dinner (I hope everyone will be joining us there anyhow)

July 2-5 - Camping (destination undecided)

July 11 - Yankee Ultralight Fly-in in Greenland, NH (take a ride in an ultralight)

July 16-18 - Camping (destination undecided)

July 31 - Bill Cosby at Meadowbrook Farms in Gilford (evening performance)

August 5-8 - Camping (destination undecided)

August 25 - Lynyrd Skynrd/38 Special concert at Meadowbrook Farms in Gilford

September 3-6 - Camping (destination undecided)

The other things we enjoy doing in the summer are taking rides through the mountains/by the beach on the Harley and going out through the woods on the 4-wheeler. If anyone has a motorcycle and/or 4-wheeler, you are welcome to join us.

Hi Michele,

Definately put me in for the Ultralight fly....never did that before! ;D

The Dylan things sounds good, but not sure if it is doable?

Understand the Maine coast is beautiful, so if one of your trips is in that area?

Like the idea of a Sept camp...before "Old Man Winter" gets us!

Yikes!  Told you, you would pay having a neighbor like me! ;D
