NH Homeschooling Seminar

This sounds like it'd be useful for any homeschoolers moving soon:

New Hampshire Homeschooling Coalition Spring Workshop May 15

The New Hampshire Homeschooling Coalition presents their annual Spring
Workshop Saturday, May 15, at the New Hampshire Community Technical College
at Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth. This year's workshop will
include four discussion panels, displays of homeschooling material, and
free resources and catalogs.  People can meet with their Coalition
representative and connect with other homeschoolers in their area. This is
a great introduction for people considering homeschooling or just starting.
Veteran homeschoolers especially enjoy the dialog with workshop panelists
and will benefit from the presentation on upcoming changes in the New
Hampshire homeschooling rules.

The morning features two panel discussions.  A Homeschooling
Sampler starts with a brief overview of the legal requirements for
homeschooling in New Hampshire, then a panel of homeschooling parents will
describe their methods and experiences and answer audience questions. In
Changes in the New Hampshire Homeschooling Rules, members of the Home
Education Advisory Council explain the issues involved in the proposed
changes which are now in the hands of the state Board of Education.

In the afternoon Teaching Special Children at Home, a panel of parents who
have children with special needs will address various aspects of educating
their children at home. The Teen Panel features home educated young people
discussing high school, college, and the world of employment.

Registration is at 9:00. Admission is $10 for members, $15
non-members.  Half-day prices are $8 members and $10 non-members.

Although we love children, young children are discouraged from
attending.  Except for totally nursing babies, every person will be charged
admission.

For registration, call Joanne Lahaie, 880-6911.  For more info
and a brochure, contact Abbey Lawrence, 539-7233 or abbey@worldpath.net.

Thanks for posting this!  I wish it were being held at the same time as the Porc Fest!!!  I won't be able to make this one but I'm going to see if transcripts or audio tapes will be available.  If this group is anything like our Oregon state group the day will be very worthwhile.

Anyone know what the "upcoming changes in the New Hampshire homeschooling rules" refers to?  (Dawn?)

I think the rules have to be reapproved every so often. And this is the time. I have not reviewed them in detail, but I don't think there are any big changes in here.
