Supporting Joey Dauben's campaign
« on: March 21, 2004, 01:14:48 pm »

As Joe aka Solitar used to always say, free staters need to gain experience and practice in politics...right where they are rather than waiting until the Super Bowl in NH.

The Dallas Free Staters are starting to work in support of Free Stater Joey Dauben's campaign for Midlothian, TX school board.   They and he could use your help.

Joey came within 19 votes (2%) of winning when he ran for this position last year.  So he's a viable candidate.  Were he to win it would be a morale boost and free press for the FSP, if he loses it will be good experience that won't damage our cause in NH.

Despite the good showing last year, Joey does face a more difficult battle this year; his opponent is an entrenched incumbent this time.

If you're interested in helping out with Joey Dauben's campaign for school board in Midlothian....sound off here and leave your e-mail.   One of us will try to get you into action.

Or if you're outside TX you can make a donation

His site is www.joeydauben.com

To add to what Dada is saying, all porcupines should run for office in your current states if you plan on staying for the next few years.  You'll get a chance to run for office without having to deal with xenophobia issues, you'll get a chance to gain experience in elected office/experience running a campaign, and you'll learn how to temper libertarianism with pragmatism.  These experiences will be vital when it comes time to move to NH and work for liberty.

:)Awesome idea to run for offices - but here is a two-fold ativity: BE INVOLVED in politics by at least even going to town and city board meetings!  Wear your FSP T-shirts, buttons, etc. Have some of the .pdf file downloadable flyers ready for possible recruiting.

Don't know for sure, but are there really nice lapel pins available with the FSP porc on them? Might be nice for the suit and tie set running for office --it presents a bit more polish than a button to promote the FSP.

just another late night thought.....
Cheers- Margot
