Would marketing professionals be considered academics? I think marketing is the highest evolved form of philosopher, economist, fine artist and businessman that exists in our present Knowledge Economy.

Not so Tracy. The accountant is one of the highest level Protective Agents in a truly free market.

Trust is wonderful just as long as there's a paper trail.  ;)

Tracy is correct.
Without Taxes and the enormous government regulation, we won't need many of the accountants that we need now.  Also, computer programs might, eventually put the rest of them out of business.

Even in the Free State and the Free Nation (imagine that) there will always be a place for the accountant to count the beans.  Profits and losses, business plans, product proposals, payroll, cash, and on and on.

Accountants are a special breed of human...

Well if the day comes that all taxes are abolished and computers have taken over the rest of Financial accounting then I'll be happy to be unemployed.  ;D

Until then I'll be busy helping mulitnational corporations skip ot on their tax bills, thank you very much.  8)
