Questions about NH anyone?
« on: October 02, 2003, 09:58:09 pm »

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. I was thrilled when New Hampshire got picked because I live in New Hampshire already. If anyone who isn't from New Hampshire and plans to move here has questions about what living/growing up here is like would like to ask me anything go ahead. Remember the only stupid question is the one that goes unasked.
See you guys in a few years!!!! :D

I'm curious about rent prices around the College towns of Keene and Plymouth...

Do you know if it's possible to get rent (1 bedroom) for $200-$300 a month?

Summerlin, I didn't see any rents that low when I visited Durham this summer, where UNH is located. By the way, the lowest I see available in the RJ newspaper around UNLV are $495/mo. for 1 bdrm., and as you know that's not a very good neighborhood.

Durham and the small towns in NH are very attractive, plus no 7.5% sales tax, its 0 in NH.

Hope to see you in NH next year or whenever you can make it.

Yea rent prices are fairly high but i think a one bedroom in keene for 300$ a month are realistic. If not one of the Libertarians belonging to the KSC Group might spilt an apartment with you. You can link to their site through the LP national website.

Do you know about graduate/law schools in NH, or close enough to the border in another state?

I'm a libertarian and am currently attending the University of Texas in Austin.  I applaud the Free State Project and wish you all the best of luck.  I would love to move to NH also, but am commited to attending school here, for now.  I would also like to know what Law Schools are in NH, so I can consider moving there after I graduate (2007ish).

Does anyone know of gay rights laws? (discrimination, domestic partnership registries, etc?)

For the law students I can't say for sure but you may want to check out Rivier College, Dartmouth College, St. Anselm College, and UNH.
As for the post about gay rights in NH homosexuals are protected from discrimination and at least the Monadnock region(Southwest NH) there is a fairly large gay and bi subculture which is pretty much accepted. We don't have civil unions yet, but neighboring Vermont has them. Vermont is fairly socialist though. Hopefully we'll have civil unions within the next ten years wiith the FSP's help. As you may be aware the first openly gay Espicopalian bishop hails from the NH diocese.
