Where are the best fitness gyms in NH?

Where are the best gyms?  I would assume that they are scattered about but the best-of-the-best would be in Nashua, Manchester, and near Dartmouth.  Can someone give me tips for high-end gyms?  Some YMCAs can have ample equipment and facilities.

Is there a specific place in NH where I can rent/live affordably and walk to the gym?  I want to be within 0.25 miles.  Many, but not all, apartment complex gyms are limited.
