Looking to "Trial" FSP this Summer and Maybe Stay
« on: February 11, 2015, 09:56:50 pm »

I'm a college student in Missouri and I'm thinking about staying in NH for the summer. My goal would be to find a summer job and potentially stay if I feel I could do so in the long term.

I'll be going through the job forum here, but is there any advice/help anyone could provide?

What are some recommended places to stay? With only a few months of commitment.

Are there any best places to look for a summer job?

What should I do otherwise while in NH?

Lake Winnipesaukee and Hampton Beach are good places for summer seasonal work. You might also want to look in White Mountains towns such as Lincoln, Bartlett, and Jackson.

My wife and I were able to get seasonal work at a summer camp. We had a few days off that we spent looking for full time work. By the time camp ended we both accepted full time work and were able to stay in NH. Keep an eye on Craigslist for seasonal work, now is the time companies start posting for the summer.

Good Luck.

There is minimum wage type work at the amusement parks. There are 3 or so in Coos County and larger places in Salem and Portsmouth.

Some people camp out at Bardo Farm during the summer. Generally you live in your tent, they let you shower and may or may not feed you, depending on how much you help. It is a animal, wood, maple syrup plus other stuff farm. You would learn how to raise and kill animals, how to cut and build with food, how to use farm equipment and stuff like that. There are also WOOFF farms in NH. They are more focused on organic produce and people generally only stay at them for 1-2 weeks, instead of a couple or few months at Bardo. On the plus side, you often get a very basic living space as part of the WOOFF arrangement.

Get on this Facebook group:

There are constantly jobs being posted. I know the folks at Agora Cab are constantly looking for drivers, and the pay is more than decent.
