Obamacare-Is this the only Health Insurance Choice
« on: September 17, 2014, 03:05:22 pm »

Hi:
My husband and I are moving out of Massachusetts. We have been looking at VT and the main reason is because VT has it's own State Health Insurance. I do not want to touch Obamacare and do not want my personal information available to the IRS (which Obamacare does). What are my choices??

Hello.

VT has the most socialist healthcare system in the US. Well, I guess that is a debatable point. Some people consider the MA system the most socialist in the US.

NH offers substantially more liberty than any other state in the Northeast. It is head and shoulders above the other options. According to NH law, you aren't required to have health insurance. Though, I'm not sure if the NH government would defend you from the federal government.

I'm not really sure what you are asking about. Could you give a more detailed post? Thanks.

OK, you answered one question - that NH doesn't require you to have health insurance. Has anyone in NH decided to challenge the IRS regarding the US demanding that you have Obamacare? I do not want the IRS to have access to all my financial information although given the NSA they probably have it anyways. I'm just angry with what I see happening to this country. I have been following the Free State Project and like NH and need to move away from Massachusetts. I don't feel that Massachusetts cares about the people of Massachusetts any more. Does the Free State Project offer health insurance to it's members (an alternative to Obamacare) and if not would that be something to they would consider?? Anyways, NH and ME are the other two states that we are considering moving to. I don't mind having health care and I don't mind paying for it but I want the choice to do so I don't want it rammed down my throat. From what I see happening Obamacare is destroying health care in this country.

7/14/2011 SB148 passed with the NH House voting 261-104 and the NH Senate using a voice vote for the bill.
SB148
Passed without Gov. Lynch’s signature
This bill provides that a resident of New Hampshire shall not be required to obtain, or be assessed a fee or fine for failure to obtain, health insurance coverage.

Will the federal government honor the NH law saying that Obamacare cannot require NH residents to have health insurance? I don't know.

The FSP doesn't do things like that.

Yeah, that's far outside the scope of the FSP's goals which are simply about getting people to move here. However, that's certainly something some activists could get together and work on and maybe start a business for but it certainly seems like it would take tremendous capitol and would be a significant effort.
