My partner and I have been eyeing FSP for a long time, since we're both registered Libertarians. Unfortunately, we have been in and out of school and work for years, and then we had a baby, and moving just wasn't a possibility. But right now, we're at a turning point and ready to get mobile. The problem is neither of us are employed right now (unless my meager self-employment counts) - it's part of the reason we can move, but also most of the reason it's difficult.
I've been looking for work in MA for a while now, and the job openings in my field there are much better than what I've been able to find here in FL. The plan has been for me to stay with family for a little while, while I save up enough to relocate the rest of my family. I have not looked around in NH yet because I don't have any family in the state to help me while I look for work and transition. But if there are resources available within the FSP community to help us with the move and transition, that would make a huge difference.
We don't have much, but we have a lot of passion and energy to commit to liberty and justice. I have my BA in psychology and have been looking for case management work, preferably working with families or at-risk youth. My partner has some college under his belt but no degree yet. He has a lot of experience working in student government as a justice and used to volunteer with Teen Court when we were kids. He wants to go to law school and become a public defender, but the possibilities for him are pretty much endless, if given the right opportunity. Any suggestions on where to look for work, or if anyone here is looking to hire, let me know.
I've been itching for an exodus from this state since my family moved here when I was 8. As our kid inches toward school age, the urgency to move is greater still. Hopefully we can make this happen.
