The AltExpo project
« on: February 14, 2014, 08:58:05 pm »

The Alternatives Exposition, or AltExpo, started in 2007, when a bunch of us weren't happy with the parliamentary politics approach of the other Liberty Forum organizers and we couldn't get topics on developing alternatives onto the agenda (we finally got one panel on after a struggle).

Since the first one, AltExpo#0, we've continued to innovate and build a following. We were first to vend at PorcFest (not including Ward with his chili, of course), create and circulate alternative money systems, build a whole side agenda event that was exclusively non-parliamentary politics oriented, and we've always welcomed weary travelers into our village for the economy-minded event attender, both in the campgrounds and in the hotels.

Our bigger vision includes a directory of all the "alternatives" being developed, first in the Shire, then more broadly all over the world. We also plan events in communities outside of FSP events in towns all over the Shire, then in other locales, including major east coast cities, the southwest and the west coast of north America. If anyone sees the potential of this for building grassroots freedom communities like we do, please join us in helping build this whole concept out.

You can come see what we do and who we attract at AltExpo#15 at Liberty Forum, 20-23 February 2014. We'll have time to talk there and we'll have a session on Sunday after hotel check-out to wrap up our event and talk about the prospects for the future.

We have been running on donations, so please kick in a few bucks to make it all possible at our GoFundMe site or in person at the event. Our treasurer also accepts BitCoins, so email him for details at dcuevas718 at gmail dot com.

Thanks for reading and let's talk more about the possibilities soon!
(and don't forget to help crowd-fund us!)

I don't see a program for AltExpo speakers listed at your links. Can you give us here the topics, times and locations of talks scheduled for the Liberty Forum?

By the way, you should change the thread title to include "at Liberty Forum".

You have to click "see more" or whatever it says on Facebook. The list shown there right now is about 3 weeks obsolete, so tonight we'll put our first "confirmed" schedule, though there will be a few changes during the week, I can guarantee ;)

Hope to see you there!

AltExpo#15 is at Liberty Forum, but the AltExpo project is an idea that could be world wide and ongoing monthly, weekly, or daily. Let's talk about the concept at the event. Thursday we'll have an open discussion time after the intro talk and we'll have a wrap-up session after we're out of the hotel at Bertucci's across the street.

Cheers!
