My Latest Inspiration: (Update below)
Daily Family Communication

Start each supper with communication: ask everyone to share about how they can help the family be happier.

+ Step 11 + God concept
http://www.lebanonpaaa.org/read-the-big-book-12-12-online
Big Book page 62: Selfishness—self-centeredness! That, we think, is the
root of our troubles. ... First of all, we had to quit playing God. It didn’t work. Next, we decided that hereafter in this drama of life, God was going to be our Director. ... When we sincerely took such a position, all sorts of remarkable things followed. We had a new Employer. Being all powerful, He provided what we needed, if we kept close to Him and performed His work well.

I agreed about the problem of selfishness, but my Reaction to that last sentence was: Yeah, right. God provides what we need IF we perform His work well. But God can always say, too bad, you didn't quite follow my directions as I intended. You didn't do your work well enough, so I won't be providing you what you need. Then I realized that's how Dad acted as my former employer: judgmental, hard-nosed, unfriendly. I then tried to improve my God concept, since I knew God wasn't like Dad, but it took me 2 or 3 years to find a better believable concept. I had been living in Denver a couple weeks and going to meetings often. Walking to a meeting one day I felt lonely, since I was still living alone and had no close friends. I had previously thought that the feeling meant I needed to find companionship, but this time I asked myself if there might be any falsehood behind that emotion, since there usually is falsehood behind most unpleasant emotions.

As soon as I asked, I realized there is falsehood behind it. Since God is always with us, I realized we're never really alone. So the feeling of being alone is an illusion. So I asked why I felt alone. Again the answer came immediately. It was because I was leary of getting close to God, because I still felt like God is judgmental, hard-nosed and unfriendly. And then I realized God isn't like that at all. God doesn't want to be a slave driver or make life miserable for us. God only wants to be our friend, help us find true happiness and give advice any time we ask for it. And it made sense then to ask God for advice as often as possible. Since then I've tried to ask God's advice often each day. And I learned later to ask for what I may need by thanking God in advance for it.

+ Roadblocks to communication
While trying to have daily family communication during supper, it's best if everyone watch out for common roadblocks to communication, at least when someone has an unpleasant emotion.
-- https://www.advocatesforyouth.org/parents/138?task=view
- Ordering, Directing: "Stop feeling sorry for yourself..."
- Warning, Threatening: "You'll never make friends if..." "You'd better stop worrying so much or..."
- Moralizing, Preaching: "Life is not a bowl of cherries..." "You shouldn't feel that way..." "Patience is a virtue you should learn..."
- Advising, Giving Solutions: "What I would do is...", "Why don't you..." "Let me suggest..."
- Persuading with Logic, Arguing: "Here is why you are wrong..." "The facts are..." "Yes, but..."
- Judging, Criticizing, Blaming: "You are not thinking maturely..." "You are just lazy..." "Maybe you started the fight first..."
- Praising, Agreeing: "Well, I think you're doing a great job!" "You're right!--that teacher sounds awful."
- Name-calling, Ridiculing: "Crybaby--", "That's stupid to worry about one low test grade."
- Analyzing, Diagnosing: "What's wrong with you is..." "You're just tired." "What you really mean is..."
- Reassuring, Sympathizing: "Don't worry." "You'll feel better." "Oh, cheer up!"
- Questioning, Probing: "Why..." "Who...?" "What did you...?" "How...?"
- Diverting, Sarcasm, Withdrawal: "Let's talk about pleasant things..." "Why don't you try running the world!?" Remaining silent, turning away
-- Two things to know about "Roadblocks":
- These are roadblocks when the person is experiencing a problem or strong feelings (The Other Owns the Problem). When the relationship is in the "No Problem Area" many of these are not roadblocks (e.g., joking, asking questions, etc.). Some, like name-calling and ridiculing are always risky and cause problems.
- You are not a "bad" parent because you use roadblocks. You are doing what you have been taught to do to help others. P.E.T. will provide you with more effective alternatives to begin using instead of these common roadblocks.

+ Communication differences between men & women
-- http://www.healthguidance.org/entry/13970/1/Communication--Differences-Between-Men-and-Women.html
- In communication between a man and a woman:
- the man should listen for the woman's emotions, not for solutions to her problems unless she asks and not try to remember all the details of her statements.
- The woman should make her statement clear and to the point. If making a large and complicated point, break it down into chunks that he can fully understand before moving onto your next point. Also try not to interrupt him when he's talking.

Update:
New Relationship:

Dear prospective GF, if you like to help people, would you like to discuss ideas for a non-profit organization, or a non-profit hospital, or something like that (after our first date)?

A Story About Legal Immigration (Oathkeepers.org)

By a Marine Corps Veteran, Retired Correctional Lieutenant, and Oath Keeper

We are a nation of laws, a Constitutional Republic! As such we already have immigration laws. I know this because of my beautiful wife. She and her family came here legally from the Philippines.

In 1966 after graduating from nursing school in the Philippines, my wife’s oldest sister and two other young women were sponsored by a hospital to come here as nurses. They did and found a small apartment within walking distance of their work. They did not buy cars or fancy clothes but all worked hard and took all the overtime that was available, for the sole purpose of sending money home to better their respective families.

In the case of my wife’s family the decision was made that the ten remaining siblings would all go to college for the chance to come to America, the land of milk and honey. The other two nurses were doing the exact same thing. It would be ten years before the first family members would come and one was my wife.

This was an arduous task as education was but one condition. There were numerous health and good standing requirements as well as the requirement to be sponsored by a United States citizen. My wife and another sister came here with nothing but their clothes and determination to work hard for the betterment of the remaining family members. Both of these ladies had to leave their children behind in an effort to create a better life. It would be two years before they would see their children again.

Even though both women had college educations, the educational requirements were different between the two countries. My wife and her sister cleaned houses, raked leaves, cleaned yards, and any other legal work that they could do so that they could go back to college and make up any educational requirements to better their lot.

They lived in a one bedroom apartment to save money. Then two years later their father along with their two children came. He was 72 at the time and came on a work visa. He secured a job with the county on a tree planting crew. He kept this job for fifteen years. Shortly after his arrival all that were here decided to become United States citizens. They studied, applied, were accepted, tested and sworn in.

Now there were four adults and two children living in a one bedroom apartment. Because everyone was working they decided that shifts had to be changed in order to provide for the children. Everyone was working every minute of overtime available to create a semblance of wealth. Some was sent home to provide for the rest and the remaining was banked for the future.

Three years passed and my wife and her older sister decided to buy a house in order to provide space for the family. They wrote a check and bought a home. Then more came and all went to work. My wife’s older brother came here with his wife and two young boys and was unable to secure a job, so he enlisted in the Army and made a career of it. His younger brother seeing this also joined the Army but after four years he left active duty and transferred to the National Guard. He also worked and eventually became a postman.

A second home was purchased and it was one block from the first. Then all came here and everyone became productive United States citizens. In total with the children there were 23 that came.

Not one of my wife’s family members, at any time, accepted or requested any aid, welfare or any handout of any kind. They are very proud of this fact.

Everyone can remember where they were on 9/11. As I watched the events unfold and I was getting ready for work as a Correctional Sergeant, my statement to my wife was, “This is the greatest nation on earth.” She said to me, “Yes it is but you don’t understand!” She continued to say that since I was born here I really had no idea. That she and her family, if they had stayed in the Philippines, would have never had to opportunity or great life that they enjoy. In America if you are willing to work hard that you can achieve your dreams.

My wife is very vocal on immigration. She believes in it as she and her entire family have prospered because of it. However she thinks and states that it is not only illegal, but extremely unfair, to allow any illegal to stay and reap benefits from taxpayers. We already have a path to citizenship that is legal.

Even though our friends on the left use buzzwords like undocumented, amnesty, and a path to citizenship, that does not change the fact that we are being overwhelmed by this burden. Despite what some may think, this is nothing more than a usurpation of our laws by giving illegals citizenship in order to buy Democrat votes.

Either we have laws or we don’t.

HELPING ACHIEVE WEIGHT LOSS

_Vitamin C in the treatment and/or prevention of obesity [This is quoting a scientific study]
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25866299
_Obesity has emerged as one of the major health threats worldwide. Moreover, an excessive body fat accumulation, which defines this disease, could lead to several associated clinical manifestations such as cardiovascular events, type 2 diabetes, inflammation, and some types of cancer. The appearance of these co-morbidities has been often related to an unbalanced oxidative stress. Therefore, antioxidant-based treatments could be considered as interesting approaches to possibly counteract obesity fat accumulation complications. In this context, it has been observed that vitamin C intake (ascorbic acid) is negatively associated with the occurrence of several conditions such as hypertension, gallbladder disease, stroke, cancers, and atherosclerosis, and also with the onset of obesity in humans and animals. Among the possible beneficial effects of ascorbic acid on obesity-related mechanisms, it has been suggested that this vitamin may: (a) modulate adipocyte lipolysis [fatcells burning]; (b) regulate the glucocorticoid release from adrenal glands; (c) inhibit glucose metabolism and leptin secretion on isolated adipocytes [fatcells]; (d) lead to an improvement in hyperglycemia and decrease glycosylation in obese-diabetic models; and (e) reduce the inflammatory response. Possibly, all these features could be related with the outstanding antioxidant characteristics of this vitamin. Thus, the present article reviews the up-to-date evidence regarding in vitro and in vivo effects of vitamin C in obesity and its co-morbidities.

_For body fat caused by cortisol [due to stress] I recommend adaptogenic herbs, vitamin C and pantothenic acid rich foods to build up the adrenal glands. For herbs I recommend schisandra berry, ashwagandha, amla, and nettle leaf. For foods I recommend watercress, rice bran, and nutritional yeast. Several of these herbs also promote the burning of body fat and support the thyroid.

_PANTETHINE
https://www.curezone.org/forums/fm.asp?i=1913785
_In this study a drug was used to induce damage to the hypothalamus gland [where the leptin center is] resulting in obesity. Pantethine helped offset the problems that were induced, resulting in lower food intake, less weight gain, better insulin and glucose levels, lower triglycerides, lower cholesterol, and improved activation of lipoprotein lipase in white adipose tissue. Pantethine is a potent nutrient to help maintain healthy fat burning and thus better leptin function.

_Ancient Chinese white tea may fight obesity

By Peter Foster in Beijing 11:43AM BST 01 May 2009
_White tea has previously been linked to the creation of stronger bones, lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of some cancers. The new research, published in the journal Nutrition and Metabolism and was conducted by the German health foods company Beiersdorf AG, now claims that anti-fat properties can be added to that list. ... "We've shown that white tea may be an ideal natural source of slimming substances". Scientists tested extracts of white tea on laboratory-grown human fat cells or 'adipocytes' and found fat levels were reduced.

_Meat & Dairy
http://medcapsules.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2370
_Estrogens are given to farm animals to fatten them up and increase milk production. When we consume these meats and dairy we ingest these hormones. [Great Valu milk from Walmart is said to not have those hormones, but most cow meats have them.] These estrogens in turn cause problems such as cancers, weight gain, thyroid dysfunction, blood clots, etc. These are all well known side effects of estrogens.
