The State doesn't really make those decisions...

It depends on you as we all look for different things.  You mentioned the North as you like the outdoors.  We love Littleton, it is like Portsmouth but way North.  There is lots of land around there, hiking, mountains and open spaces.  Restaurants, shopping, bookstore, movie theater and a great hiking/camping/outdoor/survivalist type store on Main St.  You have to really like snow and colder weather, the winters are longer and colder than the Seacoast region and it is about 2-3 hours away from Concord, 4hrs from Nashua which if you work from home and only commute in once in awhile, Littleton and the surrounding area may be an option.  Hope this helps, good luck with your move.

I lived 40km north of the Arctic Circle in Tapio, Lapland, Finland in the Winter of 2009. I didn't see the sun for a month and it was -25F the entire time. I also lived in Egilsstadir, Iceland for the winter of 2010. Winter is my favorite season, the colder, darker, and more snow the better. Your town sounds lovely  ;)

The deeper in the wilderness in a nice town the better. I lived in Manchester, VT for a while. Nice little wealthy town, one of everything in the valley of the mountains.

I work for an IT company in Laconia that's been in a hiring frenzy for the past year - we've grown to 27 employees, a full quarter of which have been with us for less than 6 months.  We've decided to put a hiring freeze on through the end of the year (or so we're trying for) so the new folks have time to assimilate into our culture, and to ensure we maintain the quality we pride ourselves on.  We were on the Inc 5000 last year as one of the top growing companies in the country (IIRC, we were 8th in NH overall).  http://www.mstech.com, if you're curious.

If you're still looking for work in early 2013, let me know and we'll see where we are.  Odds are, we'll be interviewing again and I'd be happy to put in a good word for a fellow FSPer.

If the OP is still lurking on this thread - we're hiring again (too much growth - we just couldn't wait until the end of the year).  Posting is at http://nh.craigslist.org/sad/3356436042.html, and we love liberty-minded folks (in other words, feel free to mention the FSP).  Please shoot us a resume!
