Link not there.

For me, F. Paul Wilson's sci-fi book HEALER - absolutely the first book that put it all together for me (specifically in his description of the utopian planet, Tolive.) And later, it's sequels - An Enemy of the State and Wheels Within Wheels. (These were published later in one book called the "LaNague Chronicles") (http://www.amazon.com/Lanague-Chronicles-F-Paul-Wilson/dp/0671721399/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322733776&sr=8-1-fkmr1

Then, of course, Frederick Hayak's "The Road to Serfdom"

Atlas Shrugged and the rest of Ayn Rand's books - which probably set me up for Healer, since I started reading them in 8th grade or so - (Healer wasn't published until I was in college)

There have been many more since... ;)
