Food Sovereignty - Maine Town Declares Food Rights

Sedgwick, Maine has done what no other town in the United States has done. Earlier this year the town unanimously passed an ordinance giving its citizens the right "to produce, process, sell, purchase, and consume local foods of their choosing."

This is WITHOUT government regulation.

This includes raw milk, locally slaughtered meats, and just about anything else you can imagine. It means that farmer and patron agree to enter into private agreements with one another, and settle any disputes that arise personally and civilly.

It is the way things used to be done before Americans sacrificed their freedoms to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Food sovereignty ordinances are what must be in place to enable an explosion of local food production.  This is only the beginning!

Learn about the principles in this video.

Don't know about other states ... but that's nothing new for WA/OR.
We have plenty of "farmers markets" and "produce stands" that sell with no licensing.
Plenty of farmers/ranchers that sell to individuals without being licensed.

We've just never thought it necessary to pass any ordinance - since that wouldn't "trump" federal regulations, anyway.
(those selling just stay below the federal requirements to meet the regulations)

Court Rules That Citizens Can Videotape Police
[AND ANY OTHER PUBLIC OFFICIAL ON DUTY - Luck]
Submitted by Lois Rain on September 13, 2011 – 9:18 pm
http://healthfreedoms.org/2011/09/13/court-rules-that-citizens-can-videotape-police/

There’s been a long rash of arrests over recording police officers on duty; recording that floods the internet with footage of police abuse. The First Circuit Court of Appeals made an important decision last week to reaffirm the right to videotape police on duty.

In a similar story, the ACLU recently won a $48,500 settlement of a lawsuit from a man who was arrested in 2009 for videotaping the police arresting his friend. The ACLU brought the case to the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals and the charges against the man were dropped.

Gee, courts, thanks for the permission to use our first amendment rights! (~Health Freedoms)

First Circuit Court of Appeals Rules that Citizens Can Videotape Police

The filming of government officials while on duty is protected by the First Amendment, said the Court

The First Circuit Court of Appeals reached a crucial decision last Friday allowing the public to videotape police officers while they’re on the clock.

The decision comes after a string of incidents where individuals have videotaped police officers and were arrested. Police officers across the United States believed citizens didn’t have the right to videotape them as they conducted official duties, but issues like police brutality put the issue up for debate.

One instance where a citizen was arrested for videotaping an officer was when Khaliah Fitchette, a law-abiding teenager from New Jersey, boarded a bus in Newark. Two police officers boarded the bus as well to remove a drunken man. Fitchette began taping the police officers because of how they were handling the man, and a police officer instructed her to stop recording them. When Fitchette refused, she was arrested and placed in the back of a cop car for two hours while the officers took her phone to delete the video. Fitchette was then released, but she and her mother then filed suit against the Newark Police Department with the New Jersey chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Another example involves Simon Glik, a passerby on the Boston Common. He used his cell phone to tape police officers when the Boston police were punching a man. Citizens surrounding the scene were saying, “You’re hurting him.” Glik never interfered with the police officers’ actions, but recorded the entire incident. The police officers ended up charging Glik with violating a wiretap statute that prohibits secret recording, even though the police officers admitted that they knew Glik was recording them. He was also charged with disturbing the peace and aiding the escape of a prisoner.

While all charges against Glik were dropped due to lack of merit, he still decided to join forces with the ACLU and file a civil rights suit to prevent a similar incident from occurring with others.

On Friday, August 26, 2011, the First Circuit Court of Appeals, which is New England’s highest federal court just below the U.S. Supreme Court, ruled that citizens are allowed to videotape law officials while they conduct official duties.

The city’s attorneys made the argument that police officers should have been exempt from a civil rights lawsuit in the first place in this case because the law is unclear as to whether there’s a “constitutionally protected right to videotape police” conducting their daily duties in public.

“The filming of government officials engaged in their duties in a public place, including police officers performing their responsibilities, fits comfortably within these principles [of protected First Amendment activity].,” said the Court. “Gathering information about government officials in a form that can readily be disseminated to others serves a cardinal First Amendment interest in protecting and promoting the free discussion of governmental affairs.”

The Court added that the police officers should have understood this all along, and that videotaping public officials is not limited to the press.

“Moreover, changes in technology and society have made the lines between private citizen and journalist exceedingly difficult to draw,” the Court continued. “The proliferation of electronic devices with video-recording capability means that many of our images of current events come from bystanders with a ready cell phone or digital camera rather than a traditional film crew, and news stories are now just as likely to be broken by a blogger at her computer as a reporter at a major newspaper. Such developments make clear why the news-gathering protections of the First Amendment cannot turn on professional credentials or status.”

The Court concluded that police officers are to expect to deal with certain “burdens” as citizens practice First Amendment rights, but that there needs to be a healthy balance between police officers being videotaped while acting irresponsibly and the harassment of officers with recording devices while they’re conducting their duties responsibly.

Freedoms I Wish The Military Were Defending
We have heard it repeated loudly and continuously since 9/11 - the troops are defending our freedoms.
This cliche is actually quite insidious. It is used as a mantra to justify or excuse anything the U.S. military does.

* There's a Ron Paul rally at Granite & Commercial in Manchester today, Saturday, from 1 to 2:30 pm.
* Dave Ridley will interview anyone who doesn't mind being on video.

* Okay, it's over now. There will probably be another one next Saturday same time at 114 & 101 intersection in Bedford.
* You can bring along things to barter, if you like. Or bring a list of things you have for barter. It may become a barter network too.

My dinner with the family of Justina Pelletier, By Dr. Keith Ablow a psychiatrist

Updates

[Image] Before DCF kidnapped Justina skates
[Image] After months of DCF abuse Justina is in a wheelchair and still not home

Warning! Don't drive through Massachusetts if you think your children might need medical help. The truth is you may not be safe anywhere.

Judge Joseph Johnston Rules Justina Pelletier to Remain in State’s Custody. Why does the state think it has more rights to your children than you do? http://www.preparingyou.com/wiki/Father

"Judge Johnston is assuring that the mistreatment and abuse of Justina will continue,” said the family’s spokesman Rev. Patrick Mahoney.

Keith Mason, president of Personhood USA, which is also a part of the Free Justina coalition, said with each delay it seems like Justina is “being treated worse than a piece of property.” http://www.preparingyou.com/wiki/Merchandise

"A child’s health and welfare are hanging in the balance. We cannot continue to withhold treatment from this young girl,” said Mat Staver, attorney and founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel.

What will you do if this happens to your family?

The above is as of March 25, 2014
If parents treated Justina like Massachusetts DCF [treats her] they would be put in jail. Instead of deciding custody last Monday Judge Joseph Johnston put his decision off until Friday, then put it off again until the following Monday, and now he will fax it to her lawyers before the end of Tuesday delaying his custody ruling of Justina until then. Note: no new evidence has come over the last 9 days. This Judge Joseph Johnston is just taking his own sweet time to make the ruling. “It is an outrage that Judge Johnston continues this nightmare for the Pelletier family and Justina. By delaying his decision, he disregards the emotional toll upon Justina and her family,” the family’s spokesman Rev. Patrick Mahoney. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/03/21/judge-again-delays-ruling-on-custody-of-justina-pelletier/
"In all my years in practice, I have never seen a more outrageous overreach by a state agency. Judge Johnston should return Justina to her family that loves her. Prayer is urgently needed!" [Action is needed.] http://www.lifenews.com/2014/03/24/justina-pelletiers-health-is-scary-her-sister-says-in-new-interview/
Misinformation and apathy seen in other news sources misreporting the Justina Pelletier story, like this one from Charlie Butts OneNewsNow.com that is full of incorrect information; the comments show even more ignorance, demonstrating the very root of the problem which is the Modern American attitude. Read more at: Misinformation and apathy. http://www.preparingyou.com/wiki/Free_Justina#Misinformation_and_apathy
Massachusetts lawmakers are getting involved in the Justina Pelletier case [ http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/02/26/major-updates-in-justina-pelletier-case-lawmakers-get-involved-teen-will-not-be-transferred-to-foster-care  ] and have begun circulating a resolution asking the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to initiate the process of releasing the teenager to her parents. "Removing a child from her family is reserved for only the most egregious circumstances where evidence of malicious intent, negligence or the blatant inability to care for the child is present." - State Rep. Marc Lombard said in a press release. The truth is hundreds of families are torn apart on a regular bases by children services. They did not get national attention. They were financially destroyed and emotionally devastated often with no happy outcome...The truth is children services with the bias aid of children's or family courts, overzealous psych evaluations, the deft ears of the media have had far to much power for years and power corrupts. This has been going on for decades because of the apathy of the people and their churches who have failed to do what Christ said, attend to the "weightier matters". We should not think this is over, this is not an aberration but all to common.
A judge ruled Monday that Lou Pelletier's daughter, 15-year-old Justina Pelletier, will be placed into foster care. “We’re fighting corruption. We’re fighting evil,” Lou Pelletier told Lis Klimas, adding that the case is a “national outrage.” 2014-2-24

Justina's father could be held in contempt of court now that DCF has filed against him. http://www.glennbeck.com/2014/02/19/lou-pelletier-talks-to-glenn-about-the-contempt-of-court-charges-and-what-comes-next-for-his-family/

Hungary Introduces 'Fat Tax' Are We Next?
Can an economic solution fix a problem of the palate?
Hungary recently adopted a tax for foods considered high in fat, sugar, and salt. Other countries in the European Union are following suit. [And some U.S. states are considering it too. Natural fats and salt don't even contribute to obesity, so it's doubly ridiculous.]

3 [make that 100] Girls Dead, Others Hospitalized After Gardasil HPV Vaccine
Following controversy over U.S. state legislatures requiring young girls to take Gardasil, a number of severe side effects have been observed along with the recent deaths of 3 young girls.
Gardasil is now marketed towards men and women up to age 26 as a "preventative" tool against anal cancer.
- Important update: There are actually 103 reports of death following an HPV vaccination. And 3 of them are boys! The total number of VAERS reports on HPV is 23,388.
- Some U.S. state legislatures require young girls to take Gardasil vaccines. In August 2008, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) required all female immigrants between the ages of 11 and 26 to receive at least one dose of the Gardasil vaccination if they planned on entering the United States. The enforcement was due to a law created in 1996 that required immigrants to receive any vaccination that was recommended by the United States government.

The Beast (Govt) Strikes Again
Troy Davis execution goes ahead despite serious doubts about his guilt --Condemned man proclaimed innocence in last words to victim's family before lethal injection in Georgia prison 22 Sep 2011 - Moments before he was put to death, Troy Davis lifted his head from the gurney to which he was strapped and looked the family of Mark MacPhail, the police officer for whose murder he was convicted, directly in the eyes. "I want to talk to the MacPhail family," he said. "I was not responsible for what happened that night. I did not have a gun. I was not the one who took the life of your father, son, brother." He was administered with a triple lethal injection of pentobarbital, pancuronium bromide and potassium chloride, and at 11.08 pm he was pronounced dead.

* Regarding John's diversion, I didn't say correlation is causation; I didn't imply that correlation is causation. Correlation is reason to worry. In a non-authoritarian system, correlation would lead to experimentation to determine if there is causation. But in authoritarian systems, like we have, there are generally coverups. Living in such systems, it's prudent to accept correlation as a serious danger sign.
* Parents have the right to decide what health care their children get, unless they are abusive or irrational. Then the children and their loved ones have the right to make those decisions. Children have the same rights as anyone else.

Doctors Help Govt Kidnap Children
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/09/24/jim-navarro-featured-in-cut-poison-burn.aspx
* Navarro describes the Child Protective Services (CPS) as "the thugs of the doctors, the pharmaceutical companies, and the FDA," and it's easy to see why, when you hear his story.
"When we began, we were completely uncomfortable with everything and we wanted a second opinion. The minute those words are heard: 'second opinion,' CPS is brought into it," he explains. "You're charged with child abuse and medical neglect automatically. The charges go up from there depending on your level of resistance. They will kick in your door; come in armed. They will attempt to kidnap your child, which we had gone through several times with Thomas. By any means necessary they will get your child.
It didn't used to be that way. Doctors sadly have gotten to the point where they don't even threaten you with CPS, they just contact them when you don't know about it.
... Donna and I had a hearing on the first [CPS] case, because there were actually two; one in Arizona and one in Texas, and I said, "Child abuse? I don't think so. Medical neglect? I don't think so. I am spending approximately $12,000 to $15,000 a month on my son's well being. I have him continually checked by doctors and nurses. He's got a health regimen, which includes a change of diet, vitamins, supplements. I'm doing all the right things, plus I have a wife that is by profession a caregiver. She spent many years in the emergency room, ER and trauma. I've got a sense that she knows what she's doing.

In a non-authoritarian system, correlation would lead to experimentation to determine if there is causation. But in authoritarian systems, like we have, there are generally coverups. Living in such systems, it's prudent to accept correlation as a serious danger sign.
