Planning on Porcfest 2012 as a newcomer
« on: August 23, 2011, 04:58:52 pm »

I plan on going to Porcfest for the first time.  I have never gone so far away from home and have never had to pay for myself when I did leave the state (I'm 16 and live in Mississippi).  I would just like to know what the easiest thing for me to do for lodging during porcfest would be.  I don't have an RV and we will be flying if i come.  What should i do for lodging and about how much will that cost.  Also, how much is it to get into porcfest and what things do I need to sign or whatever to be set up. Thank you for answering.

Are the dates set?  It would be nice to have the PF 2012 dates and location tacked to this board and updated on the website.

PF12 is June 18-24.

Camp sites are $25 and up per night.

You would need to coordinate a ride from the airport to the campground.

Since you're under 18, there is no registration fee for you.
To save on lodging I'd recommend contacting Nick Ford (next year) about crashing in the Alt Expo village, the cheapest camping option ($5/night)
As ny2nh said, you'll need a ride from the airport to the campground.

Even before the date/location is set/displayed for Liberty Forum?

Yes, Roger's Campground.

Also, MS Libertarian - you need to also plan for food or have enough $$ to purchase food.

The chow was great at PF 2011.  I'm bringing less food and more $$ next time!

The price is for a tent, so bring/borrow one that can fit all three of you.

If last year is a good indication (and I suspect strongly it is) there will be multiple (free market) employment opportunities AT PorcFest. A few dozen motivated people, at minimum, should be able to balance work and play, and come out even or slightly ahead. If you're on facebook I'd recommend you join the PorcFest Agorist Party group.

The group description needs to be updated to refer to Porcfest 2012, not 2011.

What if you think you might do some agorism, but you're not sure?

If there are 3 of you... I suggest getting a site for yourselves... $25 a night If you stay all week you get 2 nights free.

Is that just a place to set up a tent or would there be something there that would be better than the reported $5 a night deal.

Its a campsite with water and electricity. The Alt Expo village gets quite crowded.
