I'm thinking about going to PorcFest but
« on: May 02, 2011, 11:24:01 pm »

I don't know anyone else who would go. Going by myself sounds expensive and, honestly, horrifying.

LOL, horrifying how? Are you extremely shy/anti-social?

Where would you be coming from?

Yes, the idea of driving for six hours going to a place where I literally don't know anyone scares the hell out of me. I would be fine if I was going with someone I know. I've gone to conventions and spent most of the day with people I've never met, but there a certain difference (at least the way I imagine it) going with someone I know. I guess I just have an irrational fear of meeting new people. I *think* it doesn't show otherwise.

I live in central New Jersey.

I live in central New Jersey.

That's the problem.

No where else is like central NJ.

I'm dreadfully shy myself, although I seem to hide it well if I can believe what others have said. As a fellow shy person, I will say flat out that there is nothing to worry about at PorcFest. Seriously. No one is going to hold you to any expectations.

There is tremendous respect for private space, as well as private property, by everyone I've met.

Check out the NJ Convoy to PorcFest group! You can make friends now, and have some folks to ride up with!

And perhaps you have friends in states to the south of you. Perhaps they too are coming to PorcFest. You could get a ride with one of them.

Either way we're friendly folks, and you have nothing to be a afraid of (save the prospect of wussing out and NOT attending! THAT would be scary)

We don't bite. [Insert standard libertarian joke about consenting adults here.]

Indeed, it could be a waste of your weekend. You could go, and nobody might like you, and it might rain the whole time, and you get sprayed by a skunk, and your hot dog buns might get all soggy because you lost that little plastic clip thingy, and you got a flat tire on the way home :'(

Or, it could be one of the best things you'll ever do for yourself. And you'll meet some nice people. ;D

Choices.

Well, I'm convinced. (Yes, I realize it didn't take much)

I have a few questions.
About how much should I expect it to cost, all things included?

What are little plastic thingies for hot dogs?

$$  Random thoughts:

$30 Reg fee... (use code DREEPA and get 20% off.... and I might even give you 2 of Pat's beers)
$25 per night camping fee... (you might find someone to split a site with you)
$ for food
$ for crap you might buy at Agora Alley.

Having a beer with Dreepa and Pat?  Priceless.
That is it.

If you ask for me... Dreepa.... I will ask you 10 questions and then I bet I can introduce you to some people you will like. (10 questions will be to find out what kind of person you want to meet...seriously I have no problem introducing you to people I know at Pfest...and people I don't know)
