The mission: Pro-liberty activists in the Shire dedicated to creating their own tiny homes and helping others to do the same.

The PBS video that inspired it: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/need-to-know/culture/living-large-a-look-inside-the-tiny-house-movement/2522/

Interesting idea.  There has been talk of this for years.  I'm glad it seems to be moving forward.  I'll go check out Grafton once a tiny house or two has been built :)

The important thing is that what we're doing is completely voluntary and by mutual contract. BTW, we're up to 53 members in the FB group. Check it out.

I guess in the regards that both are collectivist. The reason for their formation being for the benefit of the members.

Unions aren't formed for the benefit of their members.  Unions are formed for the benefit of the union bosses.  Hypothetically, it doesn't have to be that way, but right now, that's how it is.

That would be a Union with forced association.
Once the association is forced... the benefit of the members becomes secondary to the desires of the leadership.

No, that's just how unions tend to be, these days, regardless of how membership works; the "union culture" is such that the union members will continue to support the union, even when it's obviously enriching the union bosses at their expense, because they have an indoctrinated hatred towards "management" that exceeds their hatred towards being exploited by union bosses.

Any collectivism needs to be discouraged. Even coops are socialist in nature since they put the collective before the individual. Any system that does that is socialist.

By that definition, all companies that are more than just a single worker/owner are "socialist."

Forced collectivism is the only thing that should concern you.

If folks wanna voluntarily pool their resources and live in a commune setting, whats the problem ?
Personally, i'd have no interest in being part of that and dont think many would.

Even a friendly neighborhood would be discouraged.
