registration needed? various random questions
« on: February 27, 2011, 12:13:37 am »

I may go.
It depends on whether other people can come with me.
Do I need to register?
How much could it cost, max and min values?
Is there a time limit on when I should know by?
What kinds of things can be bought and rented there and how much do they usually cost?
If money/gold/whatever isn't used then what would be traded?
What kind of stuff, if anything, is given away?
Where can dogs be kept; another person might bring one?
If I can't go the whole time then are there optimal times to be there?
Am I the best person in the universe?
Can I ask anymore questions?

I may go.

You should

It depends on whether other people can come with me.

They should.  But come alone if you have to.

Do I need to register?
Yes

How much could it cost, max and min values?
For reg?  $25... but if you use code DREEPA you get 20% off (seriously)
Early bird registration ends March 31st and then price goes up.

Is there a time limit on when I should know by?

March 31st for early bird then price goes up a few bucks.
You can always just show up.

What kinds of things can be bought and rented there and how much do they usually cost?
Lots of food can be bought.
various items....seems people sell lots of 'hippy' shit.
prices vary.

If money/gold/whatever isn't used then what would be traded?

Money/gold/silver (shiresilver.com)  is used.
Barter is also used.

What kind of stuff, if anything, is given away?

I saw someone giving out free hugs.
Advice seems to be giving out freely.
beer... I got a free beer last time.
some other stuff.

Where can dogs be kept; another person might bring one?

In your car
In your tent
Tied to a tree.
on a leash...
Depends on your dog....Lots of dogs at Porcfest.  If the dog is aggressive leave it at home.
If I can't go the whole time then are there optimal times to be there?

The 'ending weekend'  Thur - Sun would be best

Am I the best person in the universe?
No not really... close but not THE best

Can I ask anymore questions?
sure

The people I might go with are still not completely convinced.
Is there any way to help them?
Can I give out free "Expel New Jersey" bumper stickers? :D

Are there any "common" items that are not allowed?
Is there a way of seeing the nearby places?
I like antique/flea markets. Hows can I find them?
Maybe having things like old-fogey or modern electronics and tools.

I read "Tied to a tree. On a leash." and then I realized that was for dogs.
Tieing myself to a tree would probably be cheaper than a hotel/motel/lotel though.

What do they like?   There is plenty to do... just think of it as a camping trip.

Yes

uhm not sure I follow.

Is there a way of seeing the nearby places?

Are you driving to PF?  then yes you can drive around.
There may be some tours of other areas of NH... haven't seen details yet.
Lots of people do day trips and see stuff in NH during the early part of the week of PF.

I like antique/flea markets. Hows can I find them?

Some in Lancaster.
Some in Boscawen
Lots on Rte 4 in 'antique alley'

Maybe having things like old-fogey or modern electronics and tools.

You can try.  No one has to take them, though.  Not saying that folks won't - there are a lot of refugees from NJ around.

Are there any "common" items that are not allowed?

Uh... I think folks might be upset if you brought a rabid skunk.  Things like that might cause a problem.  Other than that, can't think of much.

Hey, do whatever you want in your spare time, as long as it's with consenting adults...

Dogs off leash might tangle with real porcupines that are plentiful. Porcupines have painfully quilled my dog in NH. FYI

In your car
In your tent
Tied to a tree.
on a leash...
Depends on your dog....Lots of dogs at Porcfest.  If the dog is aggressive leave it at home.

This is not allowed, per Roger's rules.

Quote
Pets are not permitted to roam the grounds and must be kept on a leash at all times. Pets are never to be left unattended even if tethered at a site.
Persons with pets at their site or walking pets are responsible for immediately cleaning up after their animals and discarding securely bagged pet droppings in the provided trash dumpsters.
No pet waste may be disposed of in facility toilets.  Pet caregivers are responsible for any damage caused by their pets.
No pets shall be allowed to become a nuisance or create any unreasonable disturbances.

So the correct answer is: on a leash, with the owner.
