Jim Phillips, who I am showing a video of Wed night, has a system for using a plastic sheet 12' x 12' to wrap around your sleeping bag and sleep on the ground without a tent. No rock needed.

He says it wouldn't work very well in a swamp.

There are still times he uses tents, or makes snow caves etc (obviously not in June).

We will be there with our 2 boys ages 12 and 7.  Only one night- not sure what night though.  Can't wait!
