stepping aside
« on: November 01, 2009, 04:15:26 pm »

I'm stepping aside from my volunteer roles in the FSP. If you've ever thought about getting involved in helping the FSP reach our goal of 20,000 liberty activists in New Hampshire, now is a better time than any to speak up! I'm hoping that over the next few months, we'll get a lot of fresh new talent to fill the slots formerly occupied by people who've been around a while. Here's the message I sent to the Organizers:

Fellow Organizers,

A few weeks ago I mentioned to the Board that I was considering rotating
myself out of duty for a while at some point in the future. That point has
now come. At this point in the Free State Project's development, both my
interests and those of the movement would be best served by my no longer
remaining in a leading role.

I would like to transition out of my various leadership and volunteer
roles in the FSP over the next two months, wrapping everything up by
January 1st. For the volunteer roles, I will try to find and train my own
replacements, with Varrin's approval of course. The leadership roles are
obviously a matter for the Board to decide, and I will provide whatever
advice I can. At some point in the future I hope to assume or reassume
volunteer roles as needed.

The FSP is a living, active movement with a lengthy list of
accomplishments; it is no longer merely a bright idea that "might work." A
new generation of leaders should rejuvenate and invigorate the FSP as we
strive for our central goal, the movement of several thousand
freedom-loving activists to New Hampshire. I wish them, and all of us,

Very truly yours,
"Educate your children, educate yourselves, in the love for the freedom of others, for only in this way will your own freedom not be a gratuitous gift from fate. You will be aware of its worth and will have the courage to defend it." --Joaquim Nabuco (1883), Abolitionism
