Rental vehicles under 21
« on: March 19, 2009, 01:24:14 am »

We have a group of three coming from AZ. We are all 18 and don't want to drive 3k if we dont have to. Does anyone know of somewhere we can rent some motorized scooters? We would be willing to rent these vehicles fro free state members too.

Are you coming for porcfest or permanent movers? Is 3k referring to the mileage to get here? Some clarification would help.

I moved from AZ 9 mo. ago. Thrived the first winter. I'm sure you'll love it here.

There are 3 folks under 21.  They have a car that they can drive from AZ but they don't want to drive all the way to Porcfest.  They would rather just fly to Manchester and then drive from there, on scooters.

That is what I got from the message.  Schismatized, if you don't find something to rent, flying to Manchester and then getting a ride to Porcfest might make sense.  It will cost you a little money to carpool with someone else but it will be a lot less then renting scooters.  Depending on what day you go to Porcfest, I may even be able to take you up.

Keith you are spot on.

We would rather rent a vehicle though, because two of us are planning on moving in the near future and we would like to explore the state a bit. I am wondering if I should post something on the NH craigslist? Is there any way we could rent a car or is the over 21 regulation everywhere?

Rabbit:  I drove here 18 mos ago from Las Vegas, NV.  Took 5 days and 4 nights, visiting fun people/places on the way.  About 2,800 miles, I think.  Add another 100-200 from Cali.  It's a great drive if you're not in a hurry -- see the places along the way that you've always wanted to see!

I'd discourage anyone from renting scooters and then riding them 150 miles on the back roads of NH up to Lancaster.  Rent a car or just fly into Manchester and bum a ride from some of us local Porcupines.  See you at PorcFest!

I never rented or know anyone who rented a car under 21.  The quickest way to find out is to find a list of rental companies at the Manchester airport, http://www.flymanchester.com/transportation/map_data.php?id=0&type=3&view_all=true and then call their 800 numbers.

I'd never let someone rent my car but maybe others are different.  If you have no luck on the Manchester airport website, maybe try craigslist.

Don't forget that there will likely be tours of some of the parts of NH available during Porcfest so you may not need to rent a car to see some areas.

Right, but unless that is a new law, you can rent a car at 21 in NH.  Actually, I've found every state I've tried has worked out fine from 21 on but they charged me an extra daily fee.

Yeah I just realized how much riding it would be if we got scooters... Not a good idea. I wouldn't want to rent someones personal car either.

Where do the planned tours go? Maybe me and my pals can pitch in some gas money and lunch to someone who would show us NH for a day.

Do you have tickets already? I have a friend coming to visit from AZ for porcfest. Maybe we could book her on the  same flight?

just booked em!

leaving the June 22 at 10:30pm arriving in Manchester at 9:30am #434. We are returning June 29 at 4:40pm arriving in Phoenix at 11:00pm #2473.

We plan on exploring NH for a day or two and then heading to Porcfest. I posted a want ad to rent something motorized on craigslist, maybe that will pick up some leads. As I said we would be will to pay to rent a vehicle, even smaller ones for a couple of days. Also we would be open to chipping in for someone to show us around the major cities.
