Your Congressman on Glenn Beck led me to this site today.....
« on: February 13, 2009, 08:13:55 pm »

I have already set up a recurring donation and want to sign the letter of intent.

I have been waiting for something like this for a while now, I feel like the federal government has been ignoring the 10th amendment for many decades now......it is time to remind them of their wrongs.  My problem with signing the letter of intent is that I want to follow through with it.  My job requires a state license that may or may not put me out of work upon moving there for many months.

Can someone tell me how many signatures you currently have?

According to the top level page http://www.freestateproject.org/ there are 9,034 folks who have signed the pledge so far, and 663 of them have notified the FSP that they have moved "early", i.e. they have already moved to NH since making the pledge.  If I remember correctly I was #442.  Or something like that.  There are also a large crop of folks from within NH who subscribe to the same ideals, but as they were already here could not be counted as movers.

The bottom line of all of which being that, as you can see, there are already plenty of folks here to make a substantive difference, but that it will likely be some while yet before 20,000 is reached.  I wouldn't worry about it: you can start working on following through with it as soon as you wish.  As painful as some of the licensing procedures can be, and as much as we do fight against new licensing and regulation, New Hampshire government tends still to be pretty friendly and helpful about such things compared with many states.  I would be surprised if you truly were put out of work for months by the licensing requirements.  If you don't mind me asking, what is your profession?

Thanks for stopping by.  We look forward to seeing you in NH!

I am a Hearing Instrument Specialist......basically test hearing, counsel the hearing impaired, and fit hearing aids if needed.  I am only 22 so I haven't built up a sum of wealth yet to provide me with support in a move like that, but in years.....who knows what will happen?

I have written an email to the President of the board asking what the requirements were, since the link to the government website didn't work.  And I think I was #9034 because I went ahead and signed up.  Hell, I'll work at McDonald's in exchange for freedom.

Is this the audiology board, or something like that?

Oh! And welcome! :)

Welcome, both of you! ;D

And Dan Itse is not our Congressman, he’s a State Representative. We really wouldn’t want to waste someone like Rep. Itse by sending him to the swamp on the Potomac.

He’s also the Political Action Director of the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance, which he mentioned on the show.

Welcome to you both!  ;D

As someone mentioned earlier, signing up with this forum isn't the same as signing up with a member of the FSP.  You can join here.  Remember that the statement of intent (SOI) only commits you to move within 5 years of us reaching 20,000 signers.  We're at a little more than 9,000 signers now so you're not committing to move next year or anything.

Please stick around and ask any questions you have on this forum.  We're happy to help you!  All the questions I had before moving to the Free State were answered on this forum and at one of our two yearly events: The Liberty Forum (coming up in a few weeks) and PorcFest.

Welcome to the 2nd American Revolution; where we do things to make it happen, not just talk about it. :)

According to the top level page . . . there are 9,034 folks who have signed the pledge so far, and 663 of them have notified the FSP that they have moved "early"

But keep in mind that there are also a lot of libertarian types too damn cussed to want to sign anything, and have just gone ahead and moved anyway . . .

I sent my resume up to someone with a job in Concord or West Lebanon......wish me luck!!!

It hasn't even been a week yet since I heard about this and I am totally thinking about pulling the trigger!!!  I've been looking at which cities to live in, looking for apartments, jobs, and even all the ski resorts.  I already have my snowboard stuff picked out.  My problem right now is I have a car, and I don't think it would do well in a NH winter......plus pulling a Uhaul up there won't happen.

I felt the same way when I heard of the FSP.
What kind of car?
I have a Honda Civic and I do fine.
