Free State Project +2

Add 2.

They said we were crazy to want to do it, we said they were crazy not to want to do it.  Moving 3400 miles was an adventure, nearly ending in disaster several times, and I am personally rather shagged out but WE MADE IT.   We rolled into the Granite state on Oct 31 2008.  Best Samhain/Halloween I can remember for quite a while.

I couple of tips for other potential long distance FSP types;

  • ABF shipped our stuff and did a good job BUT if you put your lock on the trailer make sure you have an additional key to the one you give the driver.  You will not get the key you give the driver back.  If you ever need to cut a Number 15 Master lock off with bolt cutters you will understand why this is important.
  • Find your vehicle titles BEFORE you pack.
  • Good second-hand hardwood furniture is easily available, and affordable by OC standards, in New Hampshire.  Don't bother shipping anything but the most durable of goods made from particle board.  If you are moving any distance you can probably replace the item for what you are paying to ship it and it probably won't survive the trip.
  • Things work a little different here.  If you pull into a gas station station in Vermont and "some guy" runs up and start messing around with your car; DON'T SHOOT!  It's called 'Full Service' and he's a friendly.

Live Free or Die!
  It's not just for saying anymore.

Welcome Glen!

If you haven't already, please update your moved status so the "Already in NH" counter ticks forward.  It's fun!  Just log in at http://www.freestateproject.org/user and update your address (you and all the freestaters who moved with you!).

If some members of your posse don't remember their login info, just send an e-mail to moved@freestateproject.org and someone will take care of it for you.

(You're welcome, Seth  :D )

A bit of a vigilant watch of Craigslist will likely prove very fruitful.

Welcome home!  We look forward to seeing you at Taproom Tuesdays or the monthly Porcupine meetings in Manchester or Concord, or the Porcupine-intensive liberty group gatherings in the Seacoast, Nashua, and Upper Valley, or Keene Freedom Sundays or Church of John Browing, or ....

Good luck to you.  If you have specific questions about places to go and things to do in NH, post here or PM some of the regulars.

Porcutations!  (That's 'salutations' and 'porcupine' squished together.  I'm trying it out to see if it catches on.)
