FWIW, I thought the beautiful thing about Holderness was that it's smackdab in the middle of New Hampshire.  Driving 50 miles, or even 100 miles, may seem like a lot to some folks, but people in SoCal regularly commute that far.   Last go-into-the-office job I had was in Santa Monica.  I had to commute 70 miles each way, or about 150 miles a day.  I had plenty of company.

Normally, I like working at home via cable modem.  :)

OTOH, in Holderness, NH you can buy a large home on acreage in the woods near wonderful lakes, and be only 35 miles, to 100 miles from anywhere in the state (as the crow flies), for less than 200K.

159K -- 4BR, 1 mile from school, 5 acres of wooded land, tax $1701 a year.

That is good? Man alive housing prices in NH will eat you alive. A place like that in Wyoming would go for 120K or less.

Where are the 11,000 sq ft 4 bedroom acreage houses in Wyoming for 120K?  Just curious.  Here is what I was able to find for twice the price (no trees):

http://www.wyomingnews.com/properties/listings2.asp?MLS=20560

$375,000

4 Bedrooms
2 Bathrooms
2694 Above Grade Sq. Ft.
2694 Basement Sq. Ft. (0 Percent of Basement Finished)

Exterior Features:
3 car garage
0 Parcel Sq. Ft.  Acreage: 2.14
Horses Allowed? No

Other Information

Built: 2001
 Subdivision: MUSTANG RIDGE

And here's one for basically the same price as the Holderness house (the one on 5 acres), but in a subdivision (no trees, no lakes they mention):
