"We'll be there" PorcFest 2006 on Upcoming.org
« on: January 02, 2006, 04:35:12 pm »

Reasons to sign up for PorcFest '06 on Upcoming.org:

1. It's a popular external community site that will help us gain exposure

2. The LP has started using it officially and we share the libertarian "tag" with them.

With our ~400 attendees, we could easily become the most popular event on the site in short order.  So please register, and don't forget to join the FSP group as well!

Tried registering about 18 hours ago. Haven't seen a confirmation email yet.

That's odd.  Should have been immediate.  Did you check your spam folder?

Nope. My whitelist is pretty broad, and if someone makes the blacklist... well, I'm not that interested, thanks.

There, registered. I guess this is similar to meetup.com. Interesting... though it seems lacking in features.

Why bother signing up for another external site when www.nhlibertycalendar.org has all the events listed in NH plus is widely publicized?

1. Because it generates publicity among other users of the site, who have not yet joined.

2. NHLibertyCalendar may be known among people already in the NH liberty movement, but our primary goal is recruiting newmembers from the other 49.

Also, Upcoming is a social networking site. The point isn't to look at a specific date and see what events are taking place; the point is to see what events your friends and acquaintances are attending. It's got a different purpose than NHLibertyCalendar.

True, the more things you have out there, the more likely someone outside of our 'choir' will stumble apon the information.
