Yes, I was there all week this year. I had one munchkin with the flu which made me invisible most of the time and sleep deprived all of the time, but I was there all week.
Roger's is a nice location. It's beautiful, big enough, has an enclosed speakers location and it does have a motel on site.Â
We have an elderly class A motorhome and have stayed at many locations across the country. Rogers is nice but not the best place ever. I think a lot of the feelings about it are due to experiences we have all had there. And I strongly suspect that those experiences will be replicated *wherever* we gather. Does anyone truly believe that Roger's is the gate for those memories? For me, it was hands down the people and conversation. I have never been more invigorated about achieving liberty and the Free State.
I personally think it would be fun to move the festival periodically. No, not just move it for movings sake, but there are things to be gained by doing so. The one location Kate has referred to is *very* nice, more than big enough, nice speaker facility, a couple of additonal rooms if we need them, in a location with more resources surrounding, etc. There wouldn't be any compromising on resources in our opinion. But, it is also good to allow our visitors the option to experience different parts of the state and *also* to let different parts of the state to get to know us. Even if we go with Roger's this year, it's getting small with respect to facilities and we will outgrow it, if we haven't already.
We all want PF to be a success. Give Kate a chance to finish up the selection/decision process. She is being very thoughtful and taking many things into consideration.
