Hello from Maryland from an Anarcho-Capitalist!
« on: November 02, 2006, 02:07:57 am »

My wife and I are considering the move.  We are registered Libertarians working as Republican Election Judges in Maryland.  I was asked to be a Chief Election Judge (because I quoted Jefferson and the constitution) but in this state of 2-1 Democrat vs. Republican voters and and election laws that have prevented us from placing a single Libertarian on this years ballot  (Our LP party is the first in history to back a GREEN party candidate) I had to refuse.  I was asked if I would switch to Republican if I would be promoted.  I feel seriously discrimanted against.

This state is the most socialist state in the union.  I make less than $16,000 a year and people often look at me as if it is strange to be a libertarian.  I am a christian minister.  We have two kids and still believe that welfare is stealing.  People here are always telling me to take this government service or that just because "it's there."  Look at my name.  STEALING IS STEALING!

We are technically Anarcho-Capitalist and I have a job lined up in Littleton (my boss has another office up there).  I am a Telephone Fundraiser for the Maryland Firefighters (evil bastard I know.)  I expect (God Bless) to make $25,000+ this year.  I do not accept government help here (yet some family assistance.)  Can we make it up there?

Clyde Cleveland the LP candidate for Governor in Iowa in 2002 and one time LP Presidential candidate in 2004 actively sought the Green Party's endorsement & nomination because he considered himself a "green" libertarian.

excerpt:
People have called me a "green libertarian" because of my 30-year commitment to the environment and I do believe the Green party has many good ideas. We believe we can find common ground with the greens by finding solutions to environmental problems that do not involve government coercion. Force is not in tune with the laws of nature and of Nature's God, and we believe using government force to accomplish our goals will be counterproductive. I am hopeful that the Greens and Libertarians can work together to form a very effective coalition. I will work with anyone to increase freedom and restore our environment and I am optimistic that we can forge a coalition among third party advocates, disaffected Republicans and Democrats, and apathetic citizens who usually don't vote.

In Littleton, I would think so. Littleton is one of the lowest cost of living areas in NH, probably much lower than where you are right now in Maryland. Have you ever visited the area? You ought to - I think you wouldn't want to go back. :)

You've got a job, a destination area to look for a house, have shown political involvement, and personality.  Yes, you can make it up here :-)

I'm actually one of the organizers of the mid-atlantic region local group. We have regular monthly meetings. I live just outside Baltimore.  What part of the state are you in?

I live in the Parkville Area of Baltimore County.  I shall e-mail you later.

Just to add, the Real ID act is the final straw.  I have little doubt that Maryland will accept this thing with open arms.  The Governor's race will help my decision.  The incumbent governor Bob Erlich is liberty-minded.  If he wins there may be hope for Maryland.  His opponent Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley has turned the city into a scene from 1984.  If he wins, hope is lost here.

Please fight the Real ID act there.  I won't take it anyway but I would like to remain a "good citizen" if possible.
