New song lyrics
« on: March 23, 2005, 10:43:33 pm »

I wrote a song to the music of Lord Franklin, an old English folk song.
This is a link to a very good MIDI of the song Lord Franklin:

Maybe someone could sing it at porcfest.

A Place I Call Liberty
(To the tune of Lord Franklin)

In every dream, there's one thing I see,
A special place in which I want to be.
It is a place I pray I will live to see.
A place I call Liberty.

I've often thought what this place would be,
Where you can be just what you want to be.
It wouldn't matter if you were not like me.
A place I call Liberty.

Where their's respect and civility,
And you have full rights to your property.
A place where trading markets are really free.
A place I call Liberty.

A place to build a community,
Of simple folk who just want to be free.
A place where you can teach your family.
A place I call Liberty.

Now if you dream of a world that's free,
We'll turn these dreams into reality.
We'll make a world that's built upon liberty,
A place we'll call Liberty.

I'm not familiar with the tune, but those are awesome lyrics. Keep the music coming, every movement can use some.

Do you mind if I use the lyrics?

Thanks! Glad you like the song. Feel free to use it. I want it to be of assistance to the cause of Liberty.
The link above the song takes you to a page that has the music in MIDI format, playable on Windows Media Player, Winamp, etc.

citizen,
Here is a song that Shorty Dawkins wrote. I found it in some of his papers. If I remeber right, there are more verses. I'll post them when I find them.

Plant Some Freedom

by Shorty Dawkins

Gonna plant some Freedom now,
Don't know where, and don't know how,
But I'm gonna find a way,
And I'll start, this very day.

When I meet some honest folk,
I will free them from their yolk,
Cut those chains that hold them back,
From that freedom that they lack.

Let them see what they can be,
If they choose a life that's free,
You be you, and I'll be me,
That is how, it's meant to be.

Gonna plant some Freedom now,
Don't know where, and don't know how,
But I'm gonna find a way,
And I'll start, this very day.

If you want to join me now,
Pick a field and start to plow,
You must sow before you reap,
Plant your hearts and plant it deep.

If you would be free,
Then just come along with me.

Another song from Shorty,

There Is A Place
by Shorty Dawkins

There is a place
I long to be,
A distant place,
That I will see.
Where men can be
What they want to be,
Perhaps some day,
I'll find the way.

But time goes by
Day turns to night
That distant place,
Is far from sight.
Still mothers sigh,
As their ba-bies cry,
Their simple plea,
Let us be free.

They have their rules,
They have their laws,
That only serve,
Their righteous cause.
They say we're free,
That's not free to me,
My simple plea,
Just let me be.

I do my work,
I earn my pay,
The tax man takes,
Too much away.
Two days each week,
Of my work for tax,
How can I save,
I'm just a slave.

When I at last,
My dream do reach,
I'll spread the word,
Others I'll teach,
To find the way,
And we'll all join hands,
We'll make our stand
In freedom's land.

I would also suggest a song written and performed by Robert Gibson:

"Libertarian"
