Systems Administrator (IT- II)

The Information Technology Services Department at Plymouth State University seeks a dynamic person who can work in a fast-paced, ever changing environment.  Candidate selected must have the ability to work as an effective member in a team environment.  This position will act as an academic technology support resource  and be responsible for working in the Technology Services Team to assist in the day to day support, development, and planning, of new and existing MS Windows, MacOS X and Unix™ based servers; provide an additional support resource for system backups and restores.  Deploy and support MS Windows and MacOS X based computer labs.  This is a 100% time benefited position.   

Minimum Qualifications: 
·    Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience, Associate’s degree and four years, or combination of education and experience equal to six years. 
·    Experience in System Administration;
·    Familiarity with data backup/restore procedures, security, documentation, databases and maintaining server systems. 
·    Proficiency with MS Windows™ Operating Systems
·    Effective oral and written communication skills. 

Additional Desirable Qualifications: 
·    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. 
·    Customer service experience. 
·    Experience with MacOS X Client/Server, Linux, and MS Windows Server operating systems.   
·    Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy.
·    VMWare VSphere and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure administration.
·    Programming in VB/VBS, Perl, PHP, Unix Shell scripting, Java.
·    Apple Remote Desktop and Open directory.
·    Familiarity with MySQL and Oracle Databases.
·    Experience working in a team environment.
·    Web Application Development experience. 
·    Multimedia applications and equipment. 
·    Project management skills. 
·    Experience in higher education.
