Pakistan, Afghanistan moving ahead on peace plan that cuts U.S. peace role 12 Dec 2012 Afghanistan and Pakistan are moving ahead quickly with a new Afghan government plan that envisions peace with the Taliban by 2015, holding a summit in Turkey and working with the United States and Britain on streamlining the U.N. terrorist blacklisting system so that Afghan insurgents can be given safe passage for direct negotiations with Kabul. Negotiations on the blacklisting procedures, which have been taking place in New York ahead of a vote to renew the U.N. system before it expires next week, could effectively give legal space and international legitimacy to the Taliban’s political wing.

Drone Strikes Draw Congress's Ire Over Lack of White House Transparency 13 Dec 2012 A rare congressional hearing into the use of unmanned drones for targeted killings drew bipartisan agreement over the White House's lack of transparency, even as lawmakers rejected a measure that would require the administration to share more data about drone strikes with Congress. The House Judiciary Committee hearing was held on Thursday to discuss a resolution put forward by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) that would order the White House to turn over to Congress all documents related to the government's targeted killing program. Lawmakers have joined the press and civil liberties groups in expressing frustration with how difficult it has been to pry information out of the White House about the process or legal basis for approving drone strikes.

Suicide numbers likely to top 2011, Army says 13 Dec 2012 As many as 12 active-duty soldiers committed suicide in November, pushing the Army above last year's record number of suicides with one month left to go in the year, officials said today. With the deaths in November, of which one has been confirmed as suicide, the Army has now had 177 suspected suicides among active-duty soldiers this year. Last year's total of confirmed suicides was 165. Of the deaths this year, 113 have been confirmed and 64 deaths are still under investigation. Typically, about 90 percent of suspected suicides are confirmed.

Attorney General Secretly Granted Government Ability to Develop and Store Dossiers on U.S. Citizens 14 Dec 2012 In a secret government agreement granted without approval or debate from lawmakers, the U.S. attorney general recently gave the National Counterterrorism Center sweeping new powers to store dossiers on U.S. citizens, even if they are not suspected of a crime, according to a news report. Earlier this year, Attorney General Eric Holder granted the center the ability to copy entire government databases holding information on flight records, c*sino-employee lists, the names of Americans hosting foreign-exchange students and other data, and to store it for up to five years, even without suspicion that someone in the database has committed a crime, according to the Wall Street Journal, which broke the story. Whereas previously the law prohibited the center from storing data compilations on U.S. citizens unless they were suspected of terrorist activity or were relevant to an ongoing terrorism investigation, the new powers give the center the ability to not only collect and store vast databases of information but also to trawl through and analyze it for suspicious patterns of behavior in order to uncover activity that could launch an investigation.

Heads up! Anthrax Drug Gets Go-Ahead from FDA 14 Dec 2012 The FDA has approved the monoclonal antibody raxibacumab to treat inhalational anthrax, the agency announced Friday. The agent is the first monoclonal approved under the FDA's "animal rule," which allows efficacy investigations via well-controlled animal studies in certain cases. In this case, it was because inhalational anthrax is rare and lethal. The FDA denied approval for raxibacumab 3 years ago, uncertain of the drug's added benefit over levofloxacin alone, so the manufacturer, Rockville, Md.-based Human Genome Sciences, conducted additional studies. The agency on Friday also approved raxibacumab to prevent inhalational anthrax when alternatives aren't available.

Syrian 'rebels' say Americans, Britons helped train them in Jordan 15 Dec 2012 Weeks before the Obama administration and other Western nations recognized a new Syrian opposition coalition as "the legitimate representative" of the Syrian people, Syrian rebels were receiving training in the use of light and heavy weapons with the backing of the Jordanian, British and U.S. governments, participants in the training have told McClatchy. The training took place as far back as October and involved hundreds of 'rebels,' the participants said. In one case, the rebel participant said men he believed were American intelligence officers observed what was taking place. Another said he believed British officers were helping to organize the training.

Oklahoma teen arrested in plot to 'bomb and shoot' students 15 Dec 2012 An Oklahoma high school student is in custody on charges he plotted to bomb and shoot students at the Bartlesville High School auditorium on the same day 26 people were shot and killed at an elementary school in Connecticut. Police arrested 18-year-old Sammie Eaglebear Chavez at about 4:30 a.m. Friday after learning of the alleged plot Thursday. An arrest affidavit says Chavez tried to convince other students to help him lure students into the auditorium, chain the doors shut and start shooting.

Ah, then came the dawn. Cui bono? The US police state. For school security, 'This is a game-changer' 15 Dec 2012 The tragedy in Connecticut will convince communities across the country to cut other spending in favor of funding greater security measures, including adding armed guards at schools, said Peter Pochowski, the former executive director of the National Association of School Safety and Law Enforcement Officers. Many states, including Illinois and Wisconsin, already have laws requiring schools to hold drills to prepare for attacks and to have crisis plans in place. But Pochowski says that won’t be considered enough... John LaSorsa, a former Secret Service agent and security consultant based in North Carolina, blamed the plague of shooting sprees on the decades-long national trend away from institutionalizing most mentally ill people. "They must be in a controlled environment with no access to the outside world," LaSorsa said.

Riddle me this: Adam Lanza, 'computer genius,' left no online footprint by Lori Price, www.legitgov.org 16 Dec 2012 According to numerous media reports and witnesses, alleged Newtown, Connecticut shooter Adam Lanza was a 'genius' with computers. And yet, we are told that Lanza apparently left no online footprint. The question must be asked: Was the electronic history of Adam Lanza scrubbed?

Bushmaster rifle used in CT shootings was same [kind of?] weapon used in Washington, D.C. sniper killings in 2002 --Agents visit Conn. gun shops after school massacre 16 Dec 2012 Federal agents planned to fan out to dozens of gun stores and shooting ranges across Connecticut, chasing leads they hoped would cast light on the life of [alleged] school shooter, Adam Lanza. The rifle used was a Bushmaster .223-caliber [described all day Friday as the weapon 'left on the car seat'], according to an official with knowledge of the investigation who was not authorized to speak about it and talked on condition of anonymity. The gun is commonly seen at shooting competitions and was used in a series of sniper killings in the Washington, D.C., area in 2002. Also found in the school were two handguns, a Glock 10 mm and a Sig Sauer 9 mm. [Yes, and we all know that D.C. sniper, John Allen Muhammad, was in the U.S. Army and worked for the FBI and CIA, so this is a real 'puzzler,' to say the least.]

Man with 47 guns arrested after school threat --Police said in statement they notified school officials and boosted security at all area schools Friday 16 Dec 2012 A northern Indiana man who allegedly threatened to "kill as many people as he could" at an elementary school near his home was arrested by officers who later found 47 guns and ammunition hidden throughout his home. Von. I. Meyer, 60, of Cedar Lake, was arrested Saturday after prosecutors filed formal charges of felony intimidation, domestic battery and resisting law enforcement against him. He was being held Sunday without bond at the Lake County Jail, pending an initial hearing on the charges, police said in a statement.

Obama to visit grief-stricken Newtown as pressure grows to take action on gun controls --Democrat[ic] lawmakers have shied away from discussing gun control in recent years, fearful of incurring the wrath of the National Rifle Association (NRA) 16 Dec 2012 As President Obama prepared to speak at a vigil in Newtown tonight, back in Washington there were growing calls for him to make good on his promise of "meaningful action" on gun control. Speaking to NBC's 'Meet the Press,' Senator Dianne Feinstein announced she would introduce a bill to ban assault weapons on the opening day of the new Congress next month. The bill, she explained, would ban "the sale, the transfer, the importation and the possession" of assault weapons, as well as magazines that carry more than 10 bullets.

ALERT – N.H. Democrats Want To Remove The Redress of Grievances Committee
http://unmasker4maine.wordpress.com/2012/12/19/alert-n-h-democrats-want-to-remove-the-redress-of-grievances-committee/

House Speaker William O’Brien (R) last year resurrected the centuries-old concept — rooted in the state constitution — of empowering citizens to seek redress of their grievances by lawmakers.

NH House Rules committee is intending to remove the Redress of Grievances Committee from the Rules of the House on Thursday. Apparently the Democrat Speaker doesn’t want the people to have a Voice in their Government!

House Rules Committee intends to remove the procedures for Redress of Grievances. ” Once they make the rules change – there will be no procedure in place for having a Petition of Redress dealt with by the house. If the public cares about having a voice – Tomorrow is a good time to remind the leadership that they will not simply go away.”

Public hearing tomorrow at 2:oo p.m.
NH State House Room 301 in the LOB, Concord NH.

The Committee never gave me the opportunity to be heard on my Petition.  It’s obvious they are afraid of something. The Republicans didn’t act when they could have and are now screaming the Democrats want to remove the committee. Have you figured it out yet?

Mark Warden says, ""Yes, they will remove it from “standing committee” status. Grievances can still be submitted, just like bills/LSRs, and will be distributed to individual standing committees (judiciary, family & children, etc). This is definitely an anti-liberty turn of events.""

Should people who spread falsehoods about Newtown shooting be prosecuted? 17 Dec 2012 At a news conference Sunday, Connecticut State Police warned about misinformation [?!] about the school shooting in Newtown being spread over social media and said those spreading falsehoods could be prosecuted under the law. "One thing that is becoming somewhat of a concern is misinformation that is being posted on social media sites," said Lt. Paul Vance at a news conference.

ATF Says Conn. Gunman Not at Ranges Recently - AP 17 Dec 2012 Federal agents say the gunman in the Connecticut school shooting fired guns at shooting ranges over the past several years, but there's no evidence he did so recently as practice for the rampage. Debora Seifert, a spokeswoman for Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, says Adam Lanza and his mother each fired at shooting ranges. They also visited ranges together. But Seifert tells the AP that ATF investigators have no indication now "that the shooter engaged in shooting activities in the past six months."

[Figuratively] Moscow fires warning shot across bow of US naval-based ABM 17 Dec 2012 A top Russian official says a US missile defense system near Russia's border is strategically destabilizing and may prompt an arms race. Speaking on the threat of mobile, naval-based elements of the US missile defense system "suddenly appearing" on Russia’s coastline, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said such an event would trigger "the harshest reaction from Russia." "We must consider the effective protection of our strategic nuclear forces," Rogozin said in an interview with the magazine Voyenny Parade ('Military Parade').

[Land]Mine blast kills 10 girls in eastern Afghanistan 17 Dec 2012 At least ten girls have been killed in a landmine explosion as they were collecting firewood in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province. According to Chaparhar district governor Mohammad Sediq Dawlatzai, the blast took place on Monday when one of the girls, all aged between nine and 11, accidentally struck the mine with an axe. "An old mine left over from the time of the jihad (against Soviet troops in the 1980s) exploded, killing 10 girls and wounding two others," he said.

Even without Congress, Obama could act to restrict guns 17 Dec 2012 Unburdened by re-election worries and empowered by law to act without Congress, U.S. President Barack Obama could take action to improve background checks on gun buyers, ban certain gun imports and bolster oversight of dealers. Prospects for gun control legislation intensified in the wake of the school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, as more pro-gun rights lawmakers said on Monday they were open to the possibility... Having just won a second four-year term, Obama does not need to fear alienating voters who favor gun rights and he could press ahead without lawmakers on fronts where federal law [supposedly] enables executive action.

After Sandy Hook: Seeking the Definitive Cause and Solution for Rage Massacres by Michael Rectenwald 18 Dec 2012 Our political leaders regularly tell us that violence never solves anything. Yet, we live under a government that, in service to the ruling elite, resorts to violence to pursue its imperialist agenda, on a daily basis.

UBS pays $1.5 bln to settle Libor rigging in Japan 19 Dec 2012 UBS said it will pay 1.4 billion Swiss francs (*1.53 billion) and admit wrongdoing at its Japanese arm to settle a wide-ranging, multi-regulator probe into how the Swiss bank's traders manipulated yen Libor and euroyen contracts. The Swiss bank's fine is second-largest ever levied against a bank, after Britain's HSBC last week agreed to pay *1.92 billion to settle a probe in the United States into laundering m*ney for dr*g cartels.

Bye-bye, Posse Comitatus: Marine father stands watch at Nashville elementary school --His answer was to stand out front, in full Marine uniform, and watch for any suspicious activity. 19 Dec 2012 In the wake of the Newtown, CT, shooting... one Nashville father decided that if anyone was going to keep watch of his kids and their teachers, it would be him. With no armed police and no metal detectors at Gower Elementary, there is just Staff Sgt. Jordan Pritchard. The sight, alone, of a Marine standing in the front of the school, watching everyone who comes in, is providing a sense of security for many in the community. "I said, 'Boy, you don't know how much better I feel having you standing here,'" said school parent Billy Hester.

Experimental Drone Passes Tests Aboard USS Truman 19 Dec 2012 An experimental drone that could change the future of naval aviation has survived its first round of testing aboard an aircraft carrier, Navy officials say. The X-47B Unmanned Combat Air System went through a series of mechanical and engineering tests designed to evaluate its compatibility with the Navy's aircraft carriers during a two-week stint aboard the nuclear powered USS Harry S. Truman. "I'm a believer that this is only the beginning," Don Blottenberger, program manager for the Navy's unmanned aircraft program, said in a statement.

Social Security Sell-Outs [Be sure to include the MSNBC Obamabot pundits] 19 Dec 2012 Congressional DemocRATs, led by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), signaled greater willingness on Wednesday to cut Social Security benefits, with the party now considering a change to the way inflation is calculated for recipients. Pelosi told reporters on Capitol Hill that a cut proposed by President Barack Obama in the fiscal cliff negotiations would in fact "strengthen" the program, echoing the claims often made by Republicans about entitlement programs they want to slash. Her remarks come a day after she said that liberals in Congress who are unhappy with Obama's concession to the GOP would nevertheless support them.

NIH may fund experiments to create more dangerous forms of H5N1 [Yes, let's cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid so we can give billions to pharma-terrorists to manufacture deadly vaccines to 'cure' the pandemics that US bioterrorists create. --LRP] Controversial Bird Flu Work to Resume Soon 19 Dec 2012 Flu researchers may be close to ending an unusual moratorium on some controversial scientific work that has lasted almost a year. That's because officials at the National Institutes of Health say they will be moving swiftly to finalize a new process for deciding whether or not to fund proposed experiments that could potentially create more dangerous forms of the H5N1 bird flu virus. Such work has been on hold since January, when dozens of flu researchers around the world voluntarily agreed to a pause that was originally supposed to last 60 days.

Provision Allowing Indefinite Detention of U.S. Citizens is Back in NDAA, Aides Say 19 Dec 2012 Lawmakers charged with merging the House and Senate versions of the National Defense Authorization Act decided on Tuesday to drop a provision that would have explicitly barred the military from holding American citizens and permanent residents in indefinite detention without trial as terrorism suspects, according to Congressional staff members familiar with the negotiations. The Senate approved that amendment -- sponsored by Senators Dianne Feinstein, Democrat of California, and Mike Lee, Republican of Utah -- in a surprise vote last month.

Julian Assange: Wikileaks to release 'million more files in 2013' 20 Dec 2012 Wikileaks founder Julian Assange said his work "will not be cowed," as he promised the whistle-blowing site would release a million more documents. In a speech from a balcony at the Ecuadorean embassy in London, he said the files to be published in 2013 would affect "every country in this world". It is six months since he sought asylum to avoid extradition to Sweden over sexual assault claims, which he denies. He fears being sent to the US and being punished for leaking diplomatic files.

Blackwater Wins the Battle of Benghazi 20 Dec 2012 U.S. embassy security in the post-Benghazi era is shaping up to be a financial bonanza for security contractors mercenaries... Both the influential independent commission on the September attacks in Benghazi and a Senate hearing on Thursday pointed to flooding the State Department's security corps with money. And one of the key post-Benghazi decisions the next secretary of state will make is whether to continue spending that cash on hired guards or to bolster the ranks of State Department employees that protect diplomats themselves.

Western 'plot to sterilize Muslims' via polio vaccine sparks killings in Pakistan 20 Dec 2012 Sartaj Khan believes that the government-sponsored polio vaccination campaign is much more sinister than it appears. "These vaccines are meant to destroy our nation," said Khan, a 42-year-old lawyer in the city of Peshawar. "Our enemies want to wipe us out." Khan is not alone in the belief, propagated by extremist groups that is gaining currency in the Pashtun belt of northwestern Pakistan: The government’s anti-polio campaign is a ruse by the Americans to sterilize or spy on Muslims. [It is.] Many also believe that much like the Pakistani physician, Dr. Shakeel Afridi, who helped the CIA run a fake vaccination program to establish the presence of 'Osama bin Laden,' the army of health workers employed to vaccinate the country's children are also on the United States payroll.

Obama proposes Social Security cuts 20 Dec 2012  The cuts in Social Security and other critical social programs proposed Tuesday by the Obama White House as part of negotiations with House Speaker John Boehner over the so-called "fiscal cliff" mark a watershed in US social policy. Obama has publicly proposed to cut future benefits for Social Security recipients, underlining the bipartisan agreement that the working class and the elderly, not Wall Street or the super-rich, must pay for the crisis of American capitalism. According to press reports Tuesday, the White House counter-offer to Boehner calls for reducing future cost-of-living increases in Social Security benefits by adopting an inflation index that is deliberately distorted to underestimate the amounts that the elderly will have to pay for the essentials of life.

Breaking: House approves bill authorizing $633 billion in defense spending --Indefinite detention of U.S. citizens provision included 20 Dec 2012 The U.S. House of Representatives approved the final version of the annual defense policy bill on Thursday, authorizing *633.3 billion in 'defense' spending for 2013, easing limits on satellite exports and providing more Marines for embassy security. The Republican-controlled House approved the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act by a vote of 315-107. The measure must still be approved by the Senate before it can go to President Barack Obama to be signed into law.

US tax dollars at work: Syria: Opposition Groups' Religious Police Patrol Aleppo Countryside --The Syrian opposition groups that have taken control of Aleppo's countryside are deploying a religious police force to enforce new laws, such as barring women from driving and making prayer compulsory. 19 Dec 2012 Residents of the embattled city, whose main concerns revolve around security and survival, were shocked to hear that opposition groups who control the Aleppan countryside are deploying a vice-and-virtue police to enforce a deeply conservative interpretation of Islamic law. The so-called Revolutionary Military Council in Aleppo issued a statement banning women from driving. The group also released several video clips showing men of various Arab nationalities patrolling the streets and forcing people to pray.

Revealed: U.S. carried out 333 drone strikes in Afghanistan this year alone - more than the entire drone strikes in Pakistan over the past eight years COMBINED --U.S. carried out 333 drone strikes in Afghanistan in 2012, report says, up from 294 in 2011 20 Dec 2012 The United States carried out more drone strikes in Afghanistan this year than it has done in all the years put together in Pakistan since it launched the covert air war there eight years ago, it has been revealed. The statistics, published by the U.S. Air Force and published by Wired's Danger Room blog, show that there were 333 drone strikes in Afghanistan in 2012 alone, up from 294 in the previous year and 278 in 2010. It is far more than an estimated 338 strikes carried out by the CIA in Pakistan since it began hunting down remnants of al Qaeda [al-CIAduh], the Taliban and other militant groups in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas eight years ago.

NRA chief calls for 'a TSA in every school' --NRA calls for armed police officer in every school 21 Dec 2012 The nation's largest gun-rights lobby called Friday for armed police officers to be posted in every American school to stop the next killer "waiting in the wings." The National Rifle Association broke its silence on last week's shooting rampage at a Connecticut elementary school that left 26 children and staff dead. "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," the group's top lobbyist, Wayne LaPierre, said at a Washington news conference. LaPierre announced that former Rep. Asa Hutchison, R-Ark., will lead an NRA program that will develop a model security plan for schools that relies on armed volunteers [aka an explosion of the TSA police state. Thanks, LaPierre!]

Millions Face a Hit if Fix for Minimum Tax Fails to Pass --Tax will hit almost 30 million additional households 21 Dec 2012 Buried within the mass of tax and spending provisions known as the fiscal cliff is a problem that could cause grief for taxpayers and the Internal Revenue Service. It is the alternative minimum tax, a provision adopted in the 1960s to make sure the very wealthiest didn't avoid taxes by accumulating too many deductions and credits. It wasn't indexed for inflation, and Congress has repeatedly passed an annual exemption to protect middle-class families from the tax. Congress hasn't passed that extension for this year. And with talks over avoiding the fiscal cliff stalled, it may not pass one.

British Court Rejects Drone Lawsuit 22 Dec 2012 On Friday, a British court rejected a closely watched civil suit by the son of a man killed in a 2011 drone strike in Pakistan that requests a judicial declaration that British intelligence officials may be liable for assisting acts of murder, war crimes, and crimes against humanity if they share targeting intelligence with the US government. The plaintiff, Noor Khan, who was represented by the British human rights group Reprieve, had also asked the court to direct the British Foreign Secretary to issue a policy "identifying the circumstances in which intelligence may lawfully be passed on if it relates to the location of individuals who may be targeted in a drone strike." The British judges hearing the case recognized that they were essentially being asked to pass judgment on the legality of the US drone program (and of Obama Administration drone policies), and they declined the invitation to do so.

Muslim businessman sues Homeland Security, says he's harassed while traveling 22 Dec 2012 A Central Florida Muslim businessman detained by authorities at airports and border crossings more than 30 times since June has filed suit against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. It's the second such lawsuit Sadique M. Jaffer has filed in Orlando against the federal agency in almost four years, in response to what he says are baseless and harassing detentions. Jaffer, who lives in Windermere and works in real estate and computer sales in multiple states, claims he has been detained more than 50 times since 2007 as he has traveled domestically and internationally.

NRA's LaPierre Rejects Gun Laws Following School Killings 23 Dec 2012 The National Rifle Association continues to oppose any new gun regulations in the wake of the mass shooting of elementary school students in Connecticut, the gun lobby's chief executive officer said. Wayne LaPierre said on NBC's "Meet the Press" today that the right way to improve student safety would be to place armed guards in every U.S. school, focus on prosecuting violent criminals and get mentally ill people off the street. "This town wants to argue about gun control," LaPierre said. "We don't think it works and we're not going to support it." Army plans to shift troops to U.S. Africa Command --Aims for quick crisis response creation 23 Dec 2012 U.S. Africa Command, the military's newest regional force, will have more troops available early next year as the Pentagon winds down from two ground wars over the past decade, Gen. Raymond T. Odierno, Army chief of staff, told The Washington Times. As part of Gen. Odierno's Regionally Aligned Forces concept, about 1,200 soldiers will deploy to Africa as early as March in an effort to place troops strategically around the globe to respond quickly to sudden challenges in hot spots such as Libya and to develop ties with the people and officials in host countries. "It's about us moving towards a scalable, tailorable capability that helps them to shape the environment they're working in, doing a variety of tasks from building partner capability to engagement, to multilateral training to bilateral training to actual deployment of forces, if necessary," Gen. Odierno said in an interview.

SEAL Team Four commander in Afghanistan 'commits suicide' as body of married father is found shot dead --U.S. military official said death 'appears to be the result of suicide' 23 Dec 2012 The leader of Navy SEAL Team Four, one of the most senior commanders in the elite world of special operations, has died after apparently committing suicide in Afghanistan, it was reported today. He commanded six platoons, two-dozen SEAL commandos and numerous support staff, deployed in Uruzgan Province, where they were conducting counter-terrorism missions and training police in remote parts of the country. SEAL Team Four is one of nine teams of special operations troops. The most famous of the combat groups is the classified SEAL Team Six, which conducted the raid that killed 'Osama bin Laden' in May 2011.

FBI Investigated 'Occupy' as Possible 'Terrorism' Threat, Internal Documents Show 23 Dec 2012 According to internal documents newly released by the FBI, the agency spearheaded a nationwide law enforcement effort to investigate and monitor the Occupy Wall Street movement. In certain documents, divisions of the FBI refer to the Occupy Wall Street protests as a "criminal activity" or even "domestic terrorism." The internal papers were obtained by the Partnership for Civil Justice fund via a Freedom of Information Act Request. The fund, a legal nonprofit that focuses on civil rights, says it believes the 112 pages of documents, available for public viewing on its website, are only "the tip of the iceberg."

4 firefighters shot, 2 killed at Webster, N.Y., fire --Webster police Chief: 'one or more shooters' fired at the firefighters when they arrived at the scene [That'll morph, quickly. Soon, 'shooters' will become 'shooter.'] 24 Dec 2012 A gunman shot and killed at least two firefighters responding to a house fire at a Rochester suburb early Monday. Two other firefighters were in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds, according to a hospital spokeswoman, The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reported. Fire Marshal Rob Boutillier said the blaze was allowed to spread to two other houses until the area is secured. Webster police Chief Gerald Pickering said "one or more shooters" fired at the firefighters when they arrived at the scene near the shore of Lake Ontario. The attacker was still at large at mid-morning. [See? Already singular - within the same article.]

Global Flu Pandemic 'Inevitable,' Expert Warns 25 Dec 2012 A new global flu pandemic within the next couple years is inevitable, one prominent flu vaccine manufacturer says. [Can they get any more blatant? See: 'V for Vendetta' sub-plot, if you want to know what happens when a tyrannical government conspires with pharma-terrorists to create a worldwide pandemic.] Joseph Kim, head of Inovio Pharmaceuticals, which is currently working on a "universal" flu vaccine that would protect against spread most strains of the virus, says the world is due for a massive bird flu outbreak that could be much deadlier than the 2009 swine flu pandemic. Last year, Ron Fouchier, a Dutch flu researcher, genetically modified a strain of H5N1 so that it was transmissible between ferrets, which are often used to test human-to-human transmissibility. At the time, Fouchier said he had created "probably one of the most dangerous viruses you can make." [Now, why would he do that?] Paul Keim, a geneticist with the U.S. National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity, echoed that sentiment: "I can't think of another pathogenic organism that is as scary as this one," he said. "I don't think anthrax is scary at all compared to this."

Homeland Security helps Ohio prepare for threats --There's a guide on how to respond to school violence, an awareness poster that schools can print out that advises, 'If you see something, say something,' and a phone number to report suspicious activity. [Report *yourselves* for executing another false flag to explode the US police state.] 25 Dec 2012 Homeland Security in Ohio has teamed up with the state Department of Education to post informational resources for school administrators in the wake of the elementary school massacre in Connecticut. The resources include a quick guide on how to respond when there's an active shooter, such as having an escape route in mind, leaving belongings behind, hiding in a locked area and silencing electronics. Ohio Homeland Security Director Richard Baron says the effort is designed to increase Ohioans' awareness of potential threats and readiness to respond.

CLG: Happy holidays to all, and have a great New Year! Thank you to all who have donated to keep this news service afloat. I also want to thank those who sent article links and complimentary messages throughout the year. I am sorry that I fell woefully behind on my correspondence and thank yous. When one hurdle was crossed, another obstacle emerged. For 2013, fasten your seatbelts, because I think the false flags are going to arrive 'fast and furious.'

Was Malala used for a US plan to attack Waziristan? -Why is Malala given so much prominence when other attacks on girls in Pakistan and Afghanistan go virtually unnoticed? by Zafar Bangash Nov 2012 Within days of the assault on Malala, American troops killed three Afghan children on October 14 in an aerial attack in the Nawa district of Helmand Province in Afghanistan. It may not be adjoining Swat Valley but is not very far either from where Malala was attacked and injured... Who is Malala Yousafzai and why has she been turned into an international icon? She even has entries on Wikipedia. How many Pakistani students, much less a girl from a remote town in Pakistan's Swat Valley, have such entries? Is it possible that unknown to her, Malala was being used in a larger US plan by first building her profile, then deliberately releasing information to make her the target of an attack in order to force the Pakistani military to launch an operation in North Waziristan that the US has been demanding for months? Not surprisingly, soon after the attack on Malala, calls were heard both within and outside Pakistan to strike at the Taliban in North Waziristan... Malala was born on July 12, 1997. Her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, owns a number of for-profit schools. While almost everything else in Pakistan is going down the drain, for-profit schools and the closely related non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that are generously financed from abroad are thriving businesses.

California cop shoots unarmed man eleven times 28 Dec 2012 The day after prosecutors cleared a police officer for shooting a man eleven times and killing him, attorneys representing the victim released a graphic video showing the shooting. The San Joaquin County district attorney's office concluded that California Police Officer James Moody had been legally justified in shooting 34-year-old Ernesto Duenez Jr., but the video might bring the case back to court. On June 8, 2011, the officer ordered Duenez to get out of his pickup truck, which was parked in the driveway of his house. Duenez was on parole and was wanted in connection with a domestic-violence incident that occurred earlier that day. When the man exited his vehicle, Officer Moody immediately opened fire, shooting 13 times and riddling the man with 11 bullets in 4.2 seconds as he rolled on the ground.

Revealed: how the FBI coordinated the crackdown on Occupy --New documents prove 'totally integrated corporate-state repression of dissent' 29 Dec 2012 It was more sophisticated than we had imagined: new documents show that the violent crackdown on Occupy last fall - so mystifying at the time – was not just coordinated at the level of the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and local police. The crackdown... was coordinated with the big banks themselves. The Partnership for Civil Justice Fund document shows a terrifying network of coordinated DHS, FBI, police, regional fusion center, and private-sector activity so completely merged into one another that the monstrous whole is, in fact, one entity: in some cases, bearing a single name, the Domestic Security Alliance Council. And it reveals this merged entity to have one centrally planned, locally executed mission. The documents, in short, show the cops and DHS working for and with banks to target, arrest, and politically disable peaceful American citizens.

9 NATO oil tankers torched in eastern Afghanistan 30 Dec 2012 At least nine NATO fuel tankers have been torched in Afghanistan after a powerful bomb explosion rocked Jalalabad Airport in country's eastern province of Nangarhar, Press TV reports. The incident occurred on Sunday when a bomb planted in a fuel tanker detonated in a terminal near the airport, where NATO oil tankers were parked. Jalalabad Airport, which is located five kilometers (three miles) southeast of Jalalabad, is currently used only for military purposes and is seen as the second largest US airbase in Afghanistan.

Obama signs five-year extension of warrantless surveillance law 30 Dec 2012 President Barack Obama has signed into law a five-year extension of the U.S. government's authority to monitor the overseas activity of suspected foreign spies and terrorists. The warrantless intercept program would have expired at the end of 2012 without the president's approval. The renewal bill won final passage in the Senate on Friday. Known as the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, the law allows the government to monitor overseas phone calls and emails without obtaining a court order for each intercept.

(Cont. from 31 Dec. CLG)

US-New Zealand attempt to create doomsday 'tsunami bomb' - documents 30 Dec 2012 A new book has revealed rare historical gems buried in New Zealand's national archives, including a bizarre WWII [ongoing] plan to create a "tsunami bomb" and military files detailing supposed UFO sightings. Author Ray Waru said he wrote "Secrets and Treasures" to highlight the material publicly available at Archives New Zealand in Wellington -- where almost 100 kilometres (62 miles) of shelf space is crammed with historical artefacts. Alongside notable historical documents are curiosities like "Project Seal", a top-secret US-New Zealand attempt to create a doomsday device to rival the nuclear bomb. The project was launched in June 1944 after a US naval officer noticed that blasting operations to clear coral reefs around Pacific islands sometimes produced a large wave, raising the possibility of creating a "tsunami bomb". Explosive tests carried out in waters north of Auckland led scientists to conclude that the weapon was feasible and a series of 10 massive blasts offshore could create a 10-metre (33-foot) tsunami capable of inundating a small coastal city. [Right after the announcement that Fukushima was offered to process Iran's nuclear fuel, guess what happened in March 2011?]

US drone strike kills al-Qaeda suspects in Yemen --Attack would be the fourth suspected strike in Yemen in a week 30 Dec 2012 At least three suspected al-Qaeda [al-CIAduh] militants have been killed by a US drone strike in Yemen's south-western al-Bayda province, say local officials. The men were reportedly hit as they travelled in a car in el-Manaseh village on the outskirts of Radda. On Friday, two 'suspected militants' were killed in eastern Hadramout province, while at least five were killed by two strikes on 24 December.

CIA Sued to Release NYPD Spying Report 31 Dec 2012 A non-profit government watchdog has sued the Central Intelligence Agency to uncover information about its controversial collaboration with the New York City Police Department's counter-terrorism surveillance program. The suit, filed by the Electronic Privacy Information Center on Dec. 20, seeks to force the release of a report by the agency's inspector general into whether it violated legal prohibitions against spying on American soil. In 2011, the Associated Press revealed that the agency was deeply involved in training the NYPD's Intelligence Unit, which spied on Muslims in New York even when there was no evidence they had committed any crimes.

The Location of Adam Lanza's Body, Like Most Mass Shooters, Is Unknown 31 Dec 2012  The body of Adam Lanza, who [allegedly] carried out the Newtown, Conn., school massacre, has been claimed but the whereabouts of the corpse remains unknown. The body was claimed by Lanza's father, Peter Lanza, according to a family spokesperson. Adam Lanza, 20, [allegedly] killed himself after he [allegedly] shot his mother and then slaughtered 20 first graders and six school staffers at the Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14 in one of the worst school shootings in American history... Like many of the mass murderers before Lanza, what happens to his body will likely be unknown.

Anonymous Hackers Target Manteca Police Department --A recently-posted video threatens the takedown of the department's Web site unless officer John Moody is fired for killing an unarmed civilian. 31 Dec 2012 Anonymous recently published a graphic video threatening to take down the official Web site for the Manteca, California, Police Department unless officer John Moody is fired and prosecuted for shooting and killing an unarmed civilian. "Back in June 2011, Manteca Officer John Moody shot 34-year-old Ernesto Duenez Jr. 11 times when he got out of the pickup truck parked in front of his residence," writes Softpedia's Eduard Kovacs. "Duenez, a parolee, was wanted for questioning regarding a domestic violence case."

Hospital fires EIGHT veteran nurses because they refused to take flu shot for religious reasons 01 Jan 2013 An Indiana hospital has fired eight employees, many of them veteran nurses, because they refused to take the [mercury-laden, squalene-filled] flu vaccine. IU Health Goshen is just the latest hospital to force its employees to receive the jab and fire or discipline the ones who object. At least four of the nurses who was terminated tried to appeal the vaccine on religious grounds with the help of a lawyer. The hospital rejected their arguments and fired them anyway. The hospital said it was following guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Medical Association, which both recommend mandatory vaccinations for employees.

Obama's first kills of 2013: Terror drone strike kills 2 in N Afghanistan 02 Jan 2013 A US assassination drone attack has killed two people in northern Afghanistan. The drone strike killed two Afghans in the province of Kunduz on Tuesday. According to statistics published by icasualties.org earlier in the day, 398 foreign soldiers were killed in Afghanistan in 2012, compared to 2001 when the total death toll for foreign troops stood at 12.

How the FBI coordinated the crackdown on Occupy --New documents prove 'totally integrated corporate-state repression of dissent' 29 Dec 2012 It was more sophisticated than we had imagined: new documents show that the violent crackdown on Occupy last fall - so mystifying at the time – was not just coordinated at the level of the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and local police. Bush-Era Wiretapping Case Killed Before Reaching Supreme Court 03 Jan 2013 A federal appeals court's August ruling in which it said the federal government may spy on Americans' communications without warrants and without fear of being sued won't be appealed to the Supreme Court, attorneys in the case said Thursday. The decision by a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals this summer reversed the first and only case that successfully challenged then-President [sic] George W. Bush's once-secret Terrorist Surveillance Program. In December, the San Francisco-based appeals court - the nation's largest - declined to revisit its decision -- making the case ripe for an appeal to the Supreme Court. The appellate decision overturned a lower court decision in which two American attorneys - who were working with the now-defunct al-Haramain Islamic Foundation - were awarded more than *20,000 each in damages and their lawyers *2.5 million in legal fees after a years-long, tortured legal battle where they proved they were spied on without warrants.

Workers making $30,000 will take a bigger hit on their pay than those earning $500,000 under new fiscal deal 03 Jan 2013 Middle-class workers will take a bigger hit to their income proportionately than those earning between *200,000 and *500,000 under the new fiscal cliff deal, according to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center. Earners in the latter group will pay an average 1.3 percent more - or an additional *2,711 - in taxes this year, while workers making between *30,000 and *200,000 will see their paychecks shrink by as much as 1.7 percent - or up to *1,784 - the D.C.-based think tank reported. Overall, nearly 80 percent of households will pay more money to the federal government as a result of the fiscal cliff deal.

Former C.I.A. Officer Is the First to Face Prison for a Classified Leak --Mr. Kiriakou first stumbled into the public limelight by speaking out about waterboarding on television in 2007. 06 Jan 2013 On Jan. 25, John C. Kiriakou is scheduled to be sentenced to 30 months in prison as part of a plea deal in which he admitted violating the Intelligence Identities Protection Act by e-mailing the name of a covert C.I.A. officer to a freelance reporter, who did not publish it. The law was passed in 1982, aimed at radical publications that deliberately sought to out undercover agents... In more than six decades of fraught interaction between the agency and the news media, John Kiriakou is the first current or former C.I.A. officer to be convicted of disclosing classified information to a reporter. Mr. Kiriakou, 48, earned numerous commendations in nearly 15 years at the C.I.A., some of which were spent undercover overseas chasing 'Al Qaeda' and other terrorist groups.

Suspected U.S. drone strike kills 17 in Pakistan's tribal region 06 Jan 2013 A suspected U.S. drone strike killed 17 people and wounded three Sunday in Pakistan's volatile tribal region, Pakistani intelligence officials said. The strike occurred in Babar Ziarat, which borders the Pakistani provinces of North and South Waziristan, near the Afghan border, the officials said. The attack follows two suspected U.S. drone strikes in the same area last week that killed 15 people. [Yeah, it's only a 'volatile' region because USociopaths are slaughtering hundreds of civilians. Otherwise, the region would not be 'volatile.']

DHS Trolling Web for Sandy Hook Rifle 'Oddities' - CLG Website Logs by Lori Price, www.legitgov.org 07 Jan 2013 CLG website logs frequently reveal fascinating .gov and .mil visitors, such as the CIA, Pentagon, FBI, DIA, and NASA. On Monday, the DHS accessed CLG's news summary, 'Bushmaster rifle used in CT shootings was same weapon used in Washington, D.C. sniper killings in 2002,' posted 16 December 2012... Here we learn two facts. One, Homeland Security has trouble spelling 'Connecticut.' Two, the DHS also has questions on the Sandy Hook shootings -- as does Citizens for Legitimate Government.

Latest drone strike kills eight in northwest Pakistan 07 Jan 2013 A U.S. drone strike killed eight people in northwestern Pakistan on Tuesday, three intelligence sources said, the latest in a series of drone attacks that come as a retired U.S. general warns their overuse may threaten American foreign policy goals. A foreign tactical trainer for al-Qaeda [al-CIAduh] was reportedly among those killed in the latest strike, although reports differed on his nationality. Three others were also injured in the attack on Haiderkhel village, about 30 kms (19 miles) east of the provincial capital of Miranshah in North Waziristan, a region along the Afghan border.

Ten banks settle foreclosure charges for $8.5 billion 07 Jan 2013 Ten major U.S. banks and mortgage companies will pay *8.5 billion to settle complaints that they improperly foreclosed on some homeowners, federal regulators announced Monday. The settlement package includes *3.3 billion in direct payments to eligible owners and *5.2 billion in loan modifications, forgiveness of deficiency judgments and other assistance, according to announcements by the Federal Reserve and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). The OCC says the direct payments will be the highest compensation to homeowners so far as a result of lenders' actions during the foreclosure crisis.

Mastermind of Barack Obama's secret drone war chosen to lead the CIA 07 Jan 2013 The mastermind of Barack Obama's secret drone war was chosen on Monday to lead the CIA and "relentlessly" extend its controversial campaign against 'al-Qaeda' into the president's second term. John Brennan, Mr Obama's counter-terrorism adviser, was nominated as the intelligence agency's next director two months after David Petraeus resigned over an extramarital affair with his biographer. He has played a key role in expanding a programme of air strikes by unmanned drones on suspected terrorists in Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen, which has killed more than 2,000 people. Accepting the nomination in a speech at the White House, Mr Brennan, 57, said: "I will make it my mission to ensure the CIA has the tools it needs to keep our country safe." Many human rights campaigners say that the drone campaign is illegal.

Elizabeth Warren Slams Possible AIG Lawsuit: 'It Would Be Outrageous' 08 Jan 2013 Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) slammed American International Group on Tuesday for thinking about suing the federal government over the *182 billion taxpayer bailout the insurance giant received during the financial crisis. AIG is considering whether to join a $25 billion shareholder lawsuit claiming that the terms of the bailout were unfair. "Beginning in 2008, the federal government poured billions of dollars into AIG to save it from bankruptcy. AIG's reckless bets nearly crashed our entire economy. Taxpayers across this country saved AIG from ruin, and it would be outrageous for this company to turn around and sue the federal government because they think the deal wasn't generous enough," said Warren in a statement. "Even today, the government provides an ongoing, stealth bailout, propping up AIG with special tax breaks -- tax breaks that Congress should stop."

Air Force eyes return of mobile nuclear missiles 09 Jan 2013 The Air Force has dusted off plans more than two decades old to place fixed nuclear missiles on rail cars or massive road vehicles to protect them from a surprise attack. The service also wants to explore alternatives to traditional missiles to carry nuclear warheads, which could include hypersonic aircraft capable of crossing the Atlantic Ocean in an hour, said Phillip Coyle of the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation, a former associate director for national security and international affairs in the Obama administration's Office of Science and Technology Policy. On Monday, the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., kicked off a study on modernizing or replacing its current fleet of Minuteman III nuclear missiles housed in underground silos in Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming.

Experts: Drones basis for new global arms race 09 Jan 2013 The success [sic] of U.S. drones in Iraq and Afghanistan has triggered a global arms race, raising concerns the remotely piloted aircraft could fall into unfriendly hands, military experts say [Who the hell is unfriendlier than the U.S. fed. govt?]. The number of countries that have acquired or developed drones expanded to more than 75, up from about 40 in 2005, according to the Government Accountability Office, the investigative arm of Congress. The United States is years ahead of the world in the technology of drones. Israel is also a leader in developing the unmanned aircraft.

Secret no-fly evidence rejected by judge 09 Jan 2013 A federal judge in San Francisco has indignantly rejected an attempt by the Obama administration to use secret evidence to derail a former Stanford student's challenge to her apparent inclusion on the government's no-fly list. The government must halt its "persistent and stubborn refusal" to follow the applicable laws, said U.S. District Judge William Alsup. Rahinah Ibrahim's name on the confidential no-fly list has barred her and one of her four children from returning to the United States for nearly eight years. [Hey, MSNBC! Where's the outrage?! Oh, I get it. The phony yelpings about 'civil liberties violations' only transpire when the President is not Barack Obama.]

KBR, Guilty In Iraq Negligence, Wants Taxpayers to Foot the Bill 09 Jan 2013 Sodium dichromate is an orange-yellowish substance containing hexavalent chromium, an anti-corrosion chemical. To Lt. Col. James Gentry of the Indiana National Guard, who was stationed at the Qarmat Ali water treatment center in Iraq just after the 2003 U.S. invasion, it was "just different-colored sand." In their first few months at the base, soldiers were told by KBR contractors running the facility the substance was no worse than a mild irritant. Gentry was one of approximately 830 service members, including active-duty soldiers and members of the National Guard and reserve units assigned to secure the water treatment plant, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs. Sodium dichromate is not a mild irritant. It is an extreme carcinogen. In November 2009, Gentry, 52, died of cancer. The VA affirmed two months later that his death was service-related. In November, a jury found KBR, the military's largest contractor, guilty of negligence in the poisoning of a dozen soldiers, and ordered the company to pay *85 million in damages. Jurors found KBR knew both of the presence and toxicity of the chemical. Other lawsuits against KBR are pending. KBR, however, says taxpayers should be on the hook for the verdict, as well as more than *15 million the company has spent in its failed legal defense, according to court documents and attorneys involved with the case.

CT senator calls for background checks to buy ammo 09 Jan 2013 U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D) said he wants legislation that would require instant background checks for the sale of gun ammunition. He is expected to take up the proposal once Congress reconvenes. "They can be done in 30 seconds," he said. "The vast majority are, and they would prevent people who should not have ammunition or firearms from actually buying it." This would be in addition to the national push to ban assault weapons. But, Blumenthal admits there's one slice of the demographic that continues to slip through the cracks. "We need to have a strategy on mental health," he said.

Texas student, who refused to wear RFID, loses appeal --District eventually aims to equip all student badges across district's 112 schools with RFID chips 09 Jan 2013 A Texan student who refused to wear a badge with a radio tag that tracked her movements has lost a federal court appeal against her school's ID policy. Andrea Hernandez, 15, stopped wearing the badge on religious grounds. After John Jay High School suspended her, she went to court and won a temporary injunction to continue her studies at the school, without the tag. The federal court ruling overturned that, saying if she was to stay at the school, she would be required to wear the badge. The new identification policy at the Northside Independent School District (NISD) in San Antonio, Texas, began at the start of the 2012 school year.

US student nabbed for making terroristic threat against school 09 Jan 2013 A student has been arrested in Texas for making a terroristic threat toward his school on his Twitter account. Local authorities said the student, whose name has not been released, apparently made the treat at North Shore Senior High School, in Harris County, on Monday. "Who wants to help me blow up the school tomorrow?" tweeted the student who was detained by the police on Tuesday morning after a citizen notified the FBI. The student acknowledged that he had sent the threatening message, saying he did not want to go to school on Tuesday when the classes restarted after winter break.

The Connecticut Department of Homeland Security’s website contains information on Sandy Hook residents two year participation in specialized Department of Homeland Security HSEEP training drills. The location of the drills was nearly at Sandy Hook Elementary school.

If this was a false flag, it was two years in the making and may explain how Sandy Hook appeared on a map in the Batman movie scene.

Claims effort to shape public opinion in favor of gun control

(SOUTH FLORIDA SUN-SENTINEL) A communication professor known for conspiracy theories has stirred controversary at Florida Atlantic Universitywith claims that last month’s Newtown, Conn., school shootings did not happen as reported — or may not have happened at all.

Moreover, James Tracy asserts in radio interviews and on his memoryholeblog.com. that trained “crisis actors” may have been employed by the Obama administration in an effort to shape public opinion in favor of the event’s true purpose: gun control.

“As documents relating to the Sandy Hook shooting continue to be assessed and interpreted by independent researchers, there is a growing awareness that the media coverage of the massacre of 26 children and adults was intended primarily for public consumption to further larger political ends,” writes Tracy, a tenured associate professor of media history at FAU and a former union leader.

Partially quoting:

[This news is about a week old. Is this hype to make distrusters of govt more distrustful and also make govt loyalists more convinced that distrusters of govt are crazy? - Luck]

The Connecticut Department of Homeland Security’s website contains information on Sandy Hook residents two year participation in specialized Department of Homeland Security HSEEP training drills. The location of the drills was nearly at Sandy Hook Elementary school.

Skepticism is always a good thing: skepticism of government and skepticism of government skeptics as well.

The fact that there was a one day training course (not "drills", see below) at the Sandy Hook Fire Department two years ago means what exactly?

These courses are not uncommon; picking out one that happened to be in the same town, two years earlier and solely on that basis, with no other evidence is not convincing at all.

And saying that the "location of the drills was nearly at the Sandy Hook Elementary school" because Sandy Hook Fire Station and Sandy Hook Elementary School are in the same town is a stretch of logic.

The course outline says:

In addition to the instructor-led course presentations, the course includes small group activities, videos, and group discussions. The course also provides overviews of HSEEP-related initiatives such as technology (e.g., the HSEEP Toolkit) and capabilities-based planning (e.g., Target Capabilities List [TCL]). This blended approach will give participants hands-on experience that readily translates to real-world exercise skills. Activities include creating exercise documentation, conducting exercise planning conferences and briefings, and practicing exercise evaluation.

ie, classroom work, not drills.

Also the headline: "Sandy Hook massacre linked to DHS exercise" is a great propaganda trick in itself. "Linked"? Yes, by this article, nothing else.

In case it wasn't clear, I was not making those statements I posted about the massacre. I was only sharing someone else's email message. It didn't sound very reliable, but I thought there might be some useful info in it anyway, so I hoped someone might be able to fill us in one way or the other.
