What is a good place to have household items appraised to see if they are worth anything?  Do they purchase items or just appraise items?

The category "household items" covers a lot of territory and you can probably appraise and sell them yourself.  Check out ebay or craigslist and for the item you want to evaluate and see what people are asking and or paying.  I usually sell stuff on craigslist because it free.  If you have something unique, expensive, or collectible, you should explore other options and do lots of homework.  If you are thinking of selling a lot of household items to a buyer at once, you can expect to receive a rock-bottom price.
