Education Resources for Children with Special Needs
« on: July 15, 2008, 07:38:58 pm »

My son has Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) which is a diagnosis that falls under the Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis umbrella. Currently he attends public school but is in Emotional Support classes. What resources are available for children who has special education needs? I do not know much about youth education in New Hampshire. My son is going into 4th grade this coming fall.

I refuse to allow him to receive any more vaccinations.

Any help anyone could provide to me would be greatly appreciated.

My much younger sibling has PDDNOS. In our unfortunate experience trying to navigate the public school support system, I've observed most public schools--regardless of the state--are just not equipped, skill-wise and budget-wise, to handle PDD. Though you might want to scream at times, your unending patience, understanding, and love are the best of things you can "give". There are support networks out there. You may want to try contacting the folks at autism-society-nh.org.
