I want a black or dark blue polo/golf shirt with a nice embroidered FSP Porc Logo!  I hope that's one of the new items.  T-shirts are something I'll never wear.  Oooh... I need a new hat too.... how about that same nice embroidery on a black hat..  mmmm...

Regards,
Ian

How about a nice coat with the FSP logo?  When it's cold out, you have to cover up any t-shirts.

Ordered up some assorted items, recently, and I was pleased with the quality.  I put the "FSP Logo Pin" on my hat, and several people have asked me what it's about.  It goes well with JPFO's Bill of Rights Day Pin (http://www.jpfo.org/pin-bord.jpg), which has been on there for a few years and got its own share of comments.

I did this with the pin I recently acquired.  Great minds think alike.  It's a nice pin, everyone should get one.

And people who don't wear hats can, uh, get their eyebrow pierced and wear it there! :)

C'mon, a bunch of folks a couple centuries ago pledged their "lives, fortunes, and sacred honor" to the cause of liberty.  Surely FSP members can choose to either take up hat-wearing or get a simple eyebrow piercing, in the name of liberty!  Yeah, that's the ticket!

I love all the merchadise I ordered and highly recommend the FSP keychain (the one with the logic puzzle and state quarter in it.)  It only took me a minute to figure out the puzzle (which shocked my daughter who'd been trying to figure it out), and the cool thing is I can now let people we meet try to figure out that puzzle and at the same time inform them about the Free State Project. :)

I'm looking forward to wearing my FSP tshirt on the 4th of July when we go to see fireworks in town at the shoreline park, and will bring some bumper stickers to hand out to those who ask about the shirt.  I'm also bringing the keychain to "stir up"  some conversations.  ;)

forgot to mention that I also shocked myself with solving that logic puzzle.  My face looked like this when the quarter dropped out onto the table: :o

Title: New Bumper Sticker

I'm all for fresh merch, but that new sticker strikes me as fairly bizarre.  And I consider myself a weirdo.  Was that the best idea we could come up with?

I agree with you Morey.  I was excited when I saw the News that a new bs was available, as I don't really care for the old blue one either.  I wouldn't put this new one on my car.  Right now, I do not have an FSP bs on my car - we need a new one, IMHO...  Any designers out there?

LOL... yeah, it's bizarre, but I found it hilarious.

But as a marketing tool, I don't think it's of much use. No one can read the URL unless they're walking by, very close. As an insider joke, it's great.

I'm not a huge fan of the blue one, but it will do for now.

The blue one is easy to read... I agree the new one is odd.  What were you guys thinking on that?  Bumper stickers shouldn't be inside jokes (and I don't even get it!).
Title: Re: FSP Merchandise Available
Post by: PDenisch on June 30, 2005, 08:18:50 am
The "spazzy porc" bumper stickers were made as an alternative to the boring, stodgy regular blue ones. I agree the URL is very hard to read. I was looking for a smaller size and still keeping the design cool, but you're right, it really didn't work all that well. They'd be good for notebooks, lockers, etc. where people will see them up close.

What other suggestions are there? I was thinking of a large banner type sticker that just has the URL in the largest size possible. Would anyone put that on their car? Another suggestion I had was to have a mountainscape background, but that might be hard to have a readable URL on it also.

Let me know what you guys think, as long as we can describe it, we can get it designed and produced.

Something like the blue one, but with a plain type font. Just the URL, nothing else needed. Normal bumper sticker size is fine, no need for a big banner. And blue-on-white is nicely readable.

Yes, I'd put that on my cars.

Or without the [ze]

Maybe with a porcupine wearing a heavy coat . . .

I live 20 miles south of the Free State, I know the weather.

For people who whine they don't want to move to New Hampshire because it isn't 70 degrees year round, this bumper sticker would be to show them we like seasons!
Title: T-Shirt Idea
Post by: Morey on July 08, 2005, 01:18:38 am
Let me know what you guys think, as long as we can describe it, we can get it designed and produced.

I don't have any clever ideas in the bumper sticker department, but I'd love to see the old grey shirt replaced.  How about this for a design - You've seen the reproduction (or fictitious) versions of vintage business promotional tees that are all the rage with the kids these days.  They have them at chain stores like Old Lady (http://secure.www.oldnavy.com/asp/dept_index_all_paging.asp?wdid=10035&MODE=B).  They say things like "Royal Flush Plumbing" or "Johnson Motors".

We could follow that style with something like "Free State Diner" and have a porcupine caricature wearing an apron and a chef's hat, and holding out a warm pie.  Below that, we have the quote "Live Free or Pie", then below that, our URL.  Somewhere off to the side put something like "Serving Liberty 24 Hours a Day!"

It looks good in my head, anyway.  Oh, and do a fitted version for the ladies.

heh-heh. He said "head"! You were picturing Amanda in the fitted tee, weren't you?

I do like the idea, though. Humorous, casual conversation starters, instead of simplistic slogans. Something to wear even when you're not out to be "in your face". A simple "B" cap, instead of a "World Champions of Baseball 2004!" hat.

I plead no contest.  ;)  Glad you dig it.

So one variation of the design might look like this:

FREE STATE CAFÉ
new hampshire
{Porcupine Chef Image} Open 24 Hours!
"Live Free or Pie"

I'm all about static stickers due to their ease of removal/replacement when they get faded or dated

I made it; I recently purchased a vinyl cutter.  It's not a static sticker, it is made from sign vinyl and is rated to last 5 years, but it can be easily removed with a heat gun and some lighter fluid.

I'm working to get these sold on the merchandise page, and should be available for a reasonable price.

Sorry, I don't have the equipment to make a static version.  I could do something similar that is magnetic, but it might be a little pricey.

My two cents... if I had the ability (talent/equipment) to modify one of the existing bumper stickers, what I'd do is take the old blue one, remove the italic font, remove the "Free State Project" line, and remove the www from the URL, making it bigger.  When the group name is spelled out in the URL, there's no real need to repeat it, and it makes you have to write the text smaller (though I'm sure it's quite legible at it's current size).

However, I prefer humorous bumper stickers to "boring" ones.  I tend to get caught by them and go out of my way to read them on other cars I see.  If a take on the "Live Free or Pie" liberty diner t-shirt idea was workable as a bumper sticker (or something equally humerous and creative), that'd be my hands down favorite.

That being said, as soon as I can get two nickles to rub together, I'll see about getting SOMETHING for our family's plain, white, boring panel van.  Hell, you guys do car wraps?  We travel between southern VA and the DC suburbs regularly.  :)  I'm sure I could talk hubby into a FSP car wrap for our van.  :)

I appreciate your willingness. You should visit the Advertising (http://freestateproject.org/about/advertising/) page, and get in touch with Bob Hull. If funds are available, a van wrap would be great!

Our conversion van is big and bright and screaming Razorback Red. I think subtle white URL stickers on the tinted windows will be our best contribution. I like Rance's stickers. I'd like to have a matching NHfree.com version.

Also, stickers and matches are popular.  If the FSP sold cool FSP sticker for less than $108 for 1,000, that would be great.

Morrey Straus is sending me the two boxes of FSP matchbooks, he has left, for me to use at our table at the MassCann Hempfest in Boston next month. Won't be enough!!
He says $80.00 for a case  (2500 matchbooks).  I don't know who can authorize the money for this, but, matchbooks would be particularly appropriate for this 50,000 person event.

Dude, outreach could, but Phil is on Vacation.  Steve Cobb is the new Vice President of Publicity, maybe he can help.  Email him, scobb at freestateproject.org

Also, is that 2500 matches or matchbooks?
