Title: Where in NH ? Our own County ?
Post by: mikey42800 on January 08, 2004, 06:32:43 pm
A newbie here...
IMHO, we need a location in NH where we can go to:
- pay no Fed income taxes
- be free of the fed gov't
- be free from the AntiPatriot Act (above)
- Have our own money (NV does I think)
- We need people who can farm (CO or AZ might be better suited to this lifestyle) so we can raise our own crops, be free from the capitalist/world ruining GE farmers and their politicians, and live as we should be. Europe is not GE firendly, whereas the US won't even label the crap.
Free from requirements to have auto ins

Build it, and I will move there tomorrow. Really.
Oh yea, a world free from divorce, and child-snatching socialist gov'ts. The people will take care of problem families, not dictators as we have now. Judges have complete immunity from anything they do. That is complete BS.

Welcome Mikey -
I'm pretty sure that these are the "long-term" goals of many FSP members.  Immediate gains for me when I move later this year are more locally and personally oriented, such as no 8.25% sales tax, lower property taxes*, no state income tax, and new freedom-oriented friends and neighbors!
I'm not sure where you could live right now to achieve your stated goals, but you're more than welcome to come to NH with us and work on it!

* yes, lower! I'm now paying $42/thousand

Mikey, ever read Atlas Shrugged? What skills or productive interests do you have? Want to help build "it" (http://forum.freestateproject.org/index.php?board=29;action=display;threadid=3971)?  8)

Welcome! What we need is people to help build a society where people are free from over-regulation and over-taxation and are responsible for themselves (my summary of what I'd like to see!). It won't happen by itself! If too many people sit back and wait for other people to make NH free enough for their tastes, we're all in trouble!

Regarding a county in NH, I know there is some talk here and there about focusing on a county or on certain towns. This is not what the FSP itself is trying to do, but individuals are certainly more than welcome to try to get people together to do whatever it is they think will bring about Liberty in our Lifetime. Personally, I encourage everyone to move anywhere in NH as soon as possible!

Personally when it comes to picking a move location I am waiting to see what recommendations "atr" comes up with.  He has compiled a  Liberty Index  (http://lfod.org) that ranks politicans in NH for liberty friendliness.  But he's also working on a ranking that will determine which districts are tottering on the edge of liberty and could be swayed by just a small number of movers.  I would feel good about moving to such a district if it fits in with my other needs.

I have to disagree with this being strongly in favor of genetic engineering myself. Would never say you can't have your viewpoints, but labeling simply cannot ever be useful to any consumer, I actually did a term paper on this last semester. =) I have kind of the opposite idea of Dada, both for my need to be at least somewhat near a city and the challenge of showing people the light so to say, I'll probably end up in the Nashua area... if I can afford it.

The property taxes around here are approaching $90/thousand. Of course we don't have a sales tax, but our government has tried twice in as many years to add a "temporary" income tax "surcharge".  The second time around they were going to do it without a vote but the LPO passed a petition around to put it on the ballot. Both times the govt. threatened to cut essential services, basically all the things they should be paying for, yet they have increased the length of time people can stay on unemployment. No wonder they need to have the few of us left still working to pay more taxes, we need to support all the bums out there who think the world owes them a living. I'd like to see most of our legislature thrown in prison for extortion. If the govt. isn't providing for essential services, what are they good for? ::)

Hey Grinder - Welcome!  Are you a member?  I see you're in Eugene, OR  -  I can't wait to get out of here (Ithaca NY) - they just don't get it.  The new mayor wants to continue to raise taxes - I asked her!  We've had double-digit increases for a few years now already.  And then there's NY state!

what is your opinion of Paul Glover? just curious...

He's an interesting local character.  Founder of the world famous Ithaca Hours http://www.ithacahours.com/ (a local currency), and the Ithaca Health Fund (a non-catastophic medical expense reimbursement fund) http://www.ithacahealth.org/  I believe both have accepted tax funded "grants" but are founded on great private concepts.

Members ought to take a look at these ideas and adapt them in NH.

All that said, he's very, very, very progressive and liberal...like Ithaca...goodby Ithaca   ;D

I've just recently heard about this project, strangely enough it was mentioned in a whole half page article in one of the most liberal publications that this city produces. Also strangely enough some friends and I were discussing this idea of getting like-minded people into a single geographical area. It's awesome that someone else had the idea and that it has come as far as it has. With my limited knowledge of the political climates in other states I would have gone for Wyoming or Montana. My reasoning was that the population density wasn't so high in either state, so there would be room to expand once the theory was proven and people came flocking. I also once read a book that involved the collapse of the U.S. and the only stronghold of sane people left was in Wyoming. But the more I'm reading about New Hampshire the better I'm liking it. I'm spreading the news here the best I can, and I'm trying to bring my wife around to the idea. I would go myself in a heartbeat if I was single, but with  a family depending on you it makes things a little more tricky. I hope to join up sometime soon, though.

Exactly Brain.  Grinder, don't give up on NH.  While OR has one of the worst job rates, NH has one of the best.  NH has the lowest taxes in the 48 connected states, the healthest people, and just about the lowest crime.  While the West coast is losing lots of high tech jobs, NH keeps getting more.  By moving to NH you will not give up the ocean, beaches, forests, mountains, or skiing.

I'm not so sure how you plan to get away with paying no Federal Income Tax on the local level. You will not be able to defeat the Feds and you will have to continue paying the Federal Government.

Wow! Lots of Oregonians around here.

I live in Southern Oregon, and I will miss parts of the land and the people, but certainly won't miss the corrupt sheriff and judicial system in my county.

We plan to move to NH next year. We assume it will take a year to prep and sell our current land. We assume we'll be living part time in an RV park at first. Can't wait to test out a Winter in an RV in NH. burrr!

Any way to get a meeting of Oregon Porcupines together? I haven't been on the lists for 6 months, so I apologize if that's on another forum area.

Eddie
