Title: Self Employment
Post by: Blackdog on November 18, 2014, 10:50:00 am
I am very interested in the FSP, I own a computer repair business in Upstate NY.  Been in business since 1993...   I want nothing more then to get out of this communistic/Nazi state.  My question is, what are the state regulations as to self employment.  Also if there are regulations, how hard does the state come down on those like me who do not believe in being regulated?

I'm (partly) self-employed. It's not difficult at all. There's no state income tax, so you don't have to pay taxes to the state government if you're a sole proprietorship. If you want to incorporate or file a trade name, you have to pay a few bucks to the Secretary of State and keep filings up to date. I have found the SoS office to be extremely flexible and helpful. There are a lot of virtues to living in a small state where the bureaucracy is smaller and more personal.

Thanks for your response.... I don't need any help from government to start or run my business, I just want to do what I do and be left alone, I have a successful business here, it's under the radar so far, it's this state (NY) that I hate and want out.  Again thanks.
