Title: Oh shucks...
Post by: Overlord on April 29, 2003, 07:29:29 pm
I'm only 16 years old, and I am probably the only libertarian in my high school (aside from my converts ;) ), and I was wondering what I can do at the high-school level to promote this movement.

I actually thought-up all of my stances on various issues long before I even knew what a libertarian was, so you can imagine that I was quite excited when I learned about the libertarian ideas and the FSP.

Well, I am going to tell all those who I know about the FSP, and I hope that I can add to to cause. ;D

Overlord,

Check out the following for info on how you might be able to help the FSP as a student:

And welcome!   :)

Hi Overlord:

Welcome aboard...good to have you here!  Seems like we finally have started to get a decent number of high schoolers getting involved.

One other thing I'd invite you to do is drop by the  Volunteer prefs thread  (http://forum.freestateproject.org/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=1471) and announce your existence as a potential FSP volunteer.   I notice another high schooler just sounded off there.

Mention your specific interest in working on the high school level or any other preferences you might have.

If you're in a Government Training Camp (sorry, I meant public school) I hope the Incorrect Thought Police don't give you too much trouble for supporting us :)

The teaching is quite poor when it comes to US History (the course that I'm taking this year); supposedly FDR was the best president ;)

When I was an undergrad, I had a socialist poli sci teacher.... I showed up to class every day with a copy of the US Constitution, the NH Constitution, and a copy of "Why Government Doesn't Work".

Then in the OTHER class she taught that semester, another active Lib in town was in THAT class she was teaching... We used to coordinate our efforts to stall her bullypit.

She went on sabbatical the next semester...  ;D
