Title: Trains to Buy and Live In - New Hampshire
Post by: pcwallis on September 12, 2005, 12:19:09 pm
Are there any passenger trains for sale in New Hampshire, that I can buy and rehab to live in.  I would like to buy one that has a kitchen in it, it would make it easier to convert to a  living unit.  Please advise.

Shades of Jim West and Artemis Gordon!  What was their train called, the Wanderer I think? :)

Would be fun...an RV on rails!

If you find any, please post your results. I've always liked cabooses.Caboosi. Cabeese.Whatever.If you lay down some rail and they are not attached to the ground (via standard concrete foundation) they won't be taxed as capital improvements.Andy

I know a guy (well I know a guy who knows a guy) who lives in a Caboose in Flemington, NJ  His grandfather used to own the small passenger line that the car sits on, and part of the sale agreement was letting this guy live in his caboose on the property.

There was piece about a couple that retrofitted a Pullmen car and are pulled around the country.  It costs twice per mile what it would cost to gas a big RV for comparative distances.

Can' t picture the allure to living in something less wide than a singlewide trailer.  Plenty of old post and beam homes in NH----if you still are interested in that track.
