The SD program is being launched by the US Attorney for the state, who is a federal employee and not in any way accountable to the people of SD.  OTOH, a county sheriff is quoted favorably on the plan.  On yet a third hand, it looks as if what they're going after are people who are already criminals on things other than guns (violence, drug dealing, etc.), not enforcing stand-alone gun laws more strictly against otherwise law-abiding citizens.
