Just an idea I have been having for a while...
« on: October 01, 2004, 12:11:40 am »

Hi I am new yes!  Even though I am new I still love freedom!  I have had this idea for a long time (very long).  Well it is 2 ideas with questions really...

1.  How much would it cost to buy a city and form it the way for FSP?

2.  How much would it cost to build a city from scratch?

Now you might think this is crazy ideas, but really what I have on paper does make great sense....  Though I would assume a city would cost $5 million and more.  So the question how to raise $5 million..

Some people have already tried to charter a new town in New Hampshire. It didn't succeed.

I guess, I would sort of be opposed to that.

I don't believe in central planning, not sure I was to be a central planner.

almost all the land in New Hampshire has been divided into towns
So your best bet would be to buy a big chunk of land in a small existing town.  Build your community.  Then get your people elected.

so buy a whole bunch of land in a city?  How much would that cost?  Since you would be thinking of how much land?

Someone tried to charter a new NH town? Really? I know some people tried to create a “Free Town,” which failed.

In the 70s, Aristotle Onassis bought a third of Durham, NH to—with the help of Governor Mel Thompson—build the world’s largest oil refinery. People all over the seacoast were nervous, as the seacoast would be a different place today if it did happen. Durham residents fought back, voted it down, and the plan was nixed.

Taking over an existing town is not only—in my mind—impossible, but highly unpopular. To residents, it would look really bad, since many New Hampshirans are opposed to that kind of control over their town.

Here’s the thing though. Very, very few people live in NH's unincorporated places. The unincorporated places that are not coexistent with mountains ranges are in Coos county. If you want to get away from civilization and authority but still be within reach of a large town (eg Berlin, Conway, Littleton), an unincorporated place is the way to go. They do not have town governments—as far as I know. Until they incorporate, they are controlled by the county government.

For the most part in New Hampshire, counties are little more than lines on a map. They don’t do a whole lot. Townships are the true authority divisions below the state government, and in NH, you’re always in a town, city, or an unincorporated place. About 200 incorporated townships/cities and 24 unincorporated places exist in NH.

Just move to one and incorporate your own town or live the free life.

Surely 7,000 porcupines would have more camraderie in a county of 40,000 than if thinly scattered among 1,200,000 people!

I don't want camaraderie; I want freedom. Smiley

If everyone were rich there would be no need for government assistance. If everyone were rich all children could attend private schools. If everyone were rich, government would become superfluous. Read the free e-book at this site:

Expect as an individual you should do whatever you think is best.  Rather than waving the flag and saying follow me.  If north of the notches works for you, come on up!  If a good idea, don't you think others will follow your example? Show us how you are making it happen!

Expect everytime a new porc crosses the border, honors his or her committment to become an activist, we all win, and most of all freedom wins!

You could build a community up in the north country, above the notch.  It's cold and sparsely populated.  I think some of it is unincorporated.

I'd rather live in an existing town, personally.  I like New Englanders, I don't mind living near them.
