http://www.godlessamericans.org/I'm not sure if this belongs in the "religion & liberty" section but it seemed the most appropriate choice. Those of us who are atheists, freethinkers, brights, agnostics, etc. should keep an eye on this group, perhaps join and attempt to "steer" it in a libertarian direction.

Actually, after watching their debut on C-Span, I e-mailed them telling them about the FSP, and linked them to the Russo website also. I encouraged them to consider banding with the FSP or libertarian party for voting block help on a Pres. Canidate this year. Any input?

Also, we may want to try to coordinate with the group called "Rolling Thunder, Down Home Democracy Tour" which seem to share a LOT of libertarian ideals. Another voting block possibility.

This is an excellent idea, Reaper.
You should create a task force to go around to these freethinker organizations and steer people to libertarianism and the FSP!
I know plenty of people here would be interested in working on that task force!

And I am already mailing all major news media the STOP THE DRUG WAR petition, and also going to all the political forums I can on a daily basis and advertising the FSP as much as I can. We need to get a significant voting block this election, and we have more chance than ever this year with the way Bush and Kerry are going at it. Bush alone is helping our cause, as his descrimination against everyone not like him(christian, drug-hating,liberty limiting, word butchers) is causing a huge uprising of civil liberty oriented organizations. I think we should campaign to all of these organizations just to try to help secure a third party solid voting block. WE CAN DO IT!

Reaper, Osborn, LeRen... if any of you would like to take over as Atheist liaison, please raise your hand. I've been spending so much time on presidential stuff that I haven't had the time to do it justice. I'd happily fall back as an "alternate" liaison if one of you would like to take it on. Godless, Amanda

About 15% of New Hampshirites don't believe in God. I would be included in that 15%. I think that many Godless Americans could easily be convinced to vote Libertarian. I think it pays to keep in mind that 85% of people here believe in God. We must be careful not to turn off this large majority. As an Atheist I walk a tight rope daily between offending others and standing up for my beliefs. Regardless of their religion, most Americans believe in a claer church/state separation. It is not religion that we should be attacking, it is religion in politics that needs to be addressed.

It's also iffy what title people want to go by....
I just see no reason for an "supreme being", and since no SB is a simpler answer than a SB, I tend not to believe in a god-like-thing, but I think there is great spirituality in wonders of nature, like beautiful sunsets, unique animals, stunning mountain ranges, etc.
Sometimes I call myself an atheist, sometimes a non-practicing-shintu-buddhist... lol....

Sometimes I call myself an atheist, sometimes a non-practicing-shintu-buddhist... lol.... JM My latest label for myself is "evolutionary anarcho-Buddhist". Seriously, do you think that atheists are more prone to be libertarian? Paul Kurtz of the Council for Secular Humanism < http://www.secularhumanism.org> has been on this anti-"evangelical capitalism" kick for a while. Very disappointing that they would support one half of Enlightenment ideals but not the other.

Sadly, in our country's backwards right/left political continuum it is easy for most americans to equate religion and evangelical fanaticism with capitalism and free thought with socialism.
