 :)Just a reminder to all:

Minnesota Libertarian Party Annual Statewide Convention is Saturday April 3rd from 9:30 am- 7:00 pm at the Coon Rapids Convention Center.  Bradley and I will be there at a booth for the FSP-- look for the cool banner!  They even have a Libertarian comedian!  Should be entertaining!

Also, last meeting was canceled due to medical reasons, but next meeting is on for Saturday May 8th at 2:00 at our home in Forest Lake, MN.

Hope to see you all in the coming months!

I'm not an FSP member simply because I can't commit to moving to New Hampshire.  But I definitely support the movement.

So, I'd like to put up some flyers on the University of Minnesota campus.  I've designed one that has a black and white image of John Ashcroft, and a hammer and sickle (to represent communism).  So basically the message is "John Ashcroft = [Soviet] Communism."  Then, below that, I have the one word sentence, "Agree?"  And then below that I have the FSP's website.

What I'm wondering is whether I'm allowed (not legally, but by the FSP) to post stuff that I make on my own.  Or do I have to get the FSP's permission?  Should I include a small disclaimer saying the FSP doesn't officially endorse my flyer?

Dear Libertyover Tyranny:
Excellent flyer!!! And yes, any kind of support that you could send our way would be much appreciated!  I also have some flyers from the convention last Saturday left over that would be less "postable" but more like "pass-outable" to interested parties.  (I use the term "parties" loosely- after all I went to Penn State and KNOW what a PARTY is!)

Anyway, if you'd like to be our U of M liaison, way cool.  I am especially interested in - other than recruitment- having people IN Minnesota be supportive as once some of us move to NH, we simply won't be here in MN to keep the fight alive.  I have supported others in other states to be helpful even if they are not members.  FRIENDS of the FSP are damn important too!

You and ANY others from the U of M are always welcome to our get-togethers which have so far been held at my home in Forest Lake, but may start being held at the Liberty Center in St. Paul, at the invitation of the Libertarian Party.  (Great bunch of people!)

Anyway- whatever you wish to do, short of being illegal or immoral, is OK with FSP and me (Local Group Leader).  I wish we had more MN members who were as active as you!

Thanks and keep up the great work - keep in touch too and let me know of any responses to those flyers.  Feel free to include MY e-mail as well for a contact if you don't wish to leave yours.  Also, make sure to have FSP's website address on your flyers.

Let me know how else I may be of assistance.  And remember YOU ROCK!

Oh - Dave - You are the BEST buddy!! See you in JUNE!

:DWOW! What a successful and enlightening time we had at the MN LP convention! It was great to meet more FSP members and Libertarian party supporters of the project!  There were many interesting speakers and other booth attendants with much to say about liberty!

A special thank you to Dustin for helping Bradley and I man our FSP booth.  Many people who were aware of the project, but couldn't be members, have pledged more support.  Some wanted to start attending meetings or at least hearing about what our local group is up to! They all were impressed with the booth, the growing membership numbers, and the positive press the FSP has so far garnered.

Though most everyone there had heard of us (however a handful had never and are now well-versed!), many had not been involved with the project much yet or for some time.  It was great to be there and generate enthusiasm for the FSP!

I spoke with the LP Chair Ron Helwig and he has agreed to have the MN LP officially endorse the FSP!  Thanks goes out to Jeremy MacKinney (LP and FSP member) who will present our prosposal for endorsement at the next Executive Committee meeting in April!

I strongly encourage other local group leaders to attend their state conventions on behalf of the FSP. You may feel as though you are preaching to the choir, but it helps you hone your statements and fine-tune your discussions.  Also, you never know who you will meet!

If anyone wants to chat more about our experience there or any tips we could maybe provide, please PM me!

Cheers!
Margot Keyes

What's new these days?  Is there anything with which I can help?  I really don't have much for money at the moment but I do have time.

Hey Steve - great to hear from you!
Hope all is well!

upcoming events:
May 1st - Freedom Day at the State Capitol - we are able to have a booth there and pass out flyers, talk to people, etc. 10-3pm.  Smallish gathering but you never know!

Are you in for some booth time?
Anyone else? Dustin?

please let me know as the girls have gymnastics that morning and we are prepping for the annual show and we'd have to do some finagling if B and I were the only ones being there.

Thanks Steve!
Margot

Also, looking into a presence at the State Fair- will keep you posted.

Yeah, I would be willing to help out with that.  The state fair would be fun too.  Let me know when/where to be, and I'll be there.

Steve -thanks for your offer to help.  I will wait to hear from some others to see if this will fly.   Corey Stern of the MN LP'ers said we have to be there 10am to set up. That is RIGHT in the middle of our girls' performance session.  So, I can provide the display products and the table if others are willing to man it and we can come after lunch to join the fun.

Maybe someone else can't make it but would be willing to download more flyers and tri-folds from the website and provide them to help off-set my costs.  I have some, but we wil need more. I have great acrylic holders for everything.  we won't get the banner in time, but that's fine.

Steve has stepped up to the plate. Anyone else???

I like to coordinate these things, but remember you all can get out there and get the job done without "OK's" from me or anyone else! But I would love to hear of your successes too! Thanks!!

Cheers- Margot

:)Thanks everyone for your offers of help - but we are scratching our presence at the Freedom Day celebration on May 1st.

Dustin- you will have to tell us all how the gun show was in East Bethel.  Thanks for going and helping to spread the FSP word.

Here is a message from the general Local Groups board - is anyone interested in contacting some groups and possibly making a presence there or finding out of we can speak to their group, etc.?
Thanks and let me know on this thread or PM me directly:

Colleges could be a fertile area since on graduation college students often consider spending some years following their dream, before embarking on a lifetime commitment.

I never heard about the Freedom event at the Capitol, how did it go?

I did make it to the event last Wednesday for CCWs birthday party though. We out numbered the antis 4 to 1.

This Tuesday I am meeting with the leaders of MNCCRN at their monthly meeting.

Today's MMM meeting went well, two actual "moms" showed up, they did not want to debate gun control wit us. So the six of us "gun nuts" talked amongst ourselves, again.

I hope to see many of you next week.
