Hey All, The Alabama FSP Group met on Sunday 4-4-04 Not a big crowd but the enthusiasm and energy was big. Our major topic was recruitment. We went over many of the FSP recruitment protocols and created some of our own. Assignments and responsibilities were handed out and we are now a motivated and working FSP Group.
We are going to the Libertarian Convention in Atlanta during May 27,28,29,30 and assist at the FSP table for Amanda Phillips and Doug Hillman and whoever else shows up. We plan to get tables at local gun shows and one of our members has agreed to contact home school organizations and plant FSP literature in their packets. One of our members has agreed to place posts in local college on line web sites.
We have mathematically figured that each present FSP member needs to sign up 2.56 new members and there we have our 20,000. Actually, since you can't sign up a half of a person, we figured that we would round up the number to 3 new sign ups per FSP member and that gives us 22,500 total members. Hey ya'll, those numbers are real, lets all committ to 3 and any we get with our more grandoise presentations will be gravy.
Each FSP member would do well to have business cards or a brouchure that you carry with you to hand out. Our target market are those folks who are already educated in the freedom movement, not the general public. These potential potent prospects can be found in gun groups, tax groups, home school groups, legal system (informed jury groups), etc. Be creative in finding these people who will sign when they hear about us.
Alabama FSP is on the move. We are ready, motivated and we like to have fun. Hope to hear from other local groups around the country. Live Free or Be a Slave, Chris Harrison, Moderator

The mark of liberty on my back

My Fellow Porcupines,
As some of you may have noticed, there has been a bit of a lull in the activity on this message group and our activities as a Free State Project Local Group. Recently, our fellow freedom-fighter Chris Harrison contacted me to discuss my interest in assuming the role of leadership of our Local Group. Together, we agreed that he would pass on his responsibilities to me so that he could focus his efforts in other areas vital to the Project's outreach endeavors and general success.
Currently, I am in contact with Local Group Coordinator, Keith Murphy, to get everything organized so that we can really move this group in the direction to contribute to the achievement of "Liberty in Our Lifetime"!
I invite you all to send me your suggestions and ideas for working together to achieve this goal. Fortunately, there are several Local Groups that have become pioneers in the areas of outreach and recruitment. Many of them have had a lot of success and are really setting the bar high for the rest of us. If you have some free time, it would be a good idea to search the Yahoo! Groups section for Free State Project and check out what some of these other groups are doing.
Keep your ears perked, as I am sure that I will be sending more messages soon about getting all of your Alabama Porcupines together for a meeting.

If you are willing to move from your home to New Hampshire, surely you can talk at least one person every six months into doing the same.

Daniel, good to see you stoking up the Alabama group. Hope we can meet soon and do some things to gain new recruits into the FSP. You are right other local groups have been doing a great job, no reason why we can't. Chris Harrison

The Libertarian Party of Alabama is having their annual convention on June 11 on Dauphin Island. Are there any Alabama Porcupines who were planning on attending? If not, is there anyone who would be willing to attend and pass out some FSP flyers? We have been trying to have a presence at as many LP conventions as possible this year. Believe it or not, there are still LP members who have never heard of us, or heard about us years ago but have no idea that we're still alive and kicking. If you'd like to volunteer, please IM me or send me an email at events[at]freestateproject.org . Thanks a lot!

Edwin, Wanted to wait a few days as I wasn't sure myself whether there was LG action in AL or not. Doesn't look like it. I know that there are a couple people in W Florida who would like to see a LG get started, and I know there are Porcs in the Mobile area. Be nice to have something in northern AL also. If you are interested in getting together with other Porcs and are willing to help organize a meetup, let me know and I'll help get things started. Nik Ludwig kreuzauge@yahoo.comIs this group active?
