Has anyone used the website, Freedom Atlas?
« on: March 10, 2012, 08:10:02 am »

Freedom Atlas, at www.freedomatlas.org, has a map showing liberty groups all over the country. A few of the NH groups that FSP members are involved in have been listed (NH Seacoast Liberty is there), but many of the prominent ones have not, including the FSP itself, the NHLA, nor is a single group shown located in Keene. In NH, it mainly shows the Campaign for Liberty, 912 project, and Young Americans for Liberty and college Libertarian groups.

I think this could be a useful tool for promoting the FSP among other liberty lovers, especially if we include the out-of-NH local groups. Take a look and let me know what you think. We could also put all of our meetup groups that have regular events, just to show people how much is going on for liberty in NH to anyone who looks at this map. Perhaps even the single-issue political groups like the home schooling alliances and whatnot.

"Dear Freedom Lover,

Welcome to the Freedom Atlas!

Use this map to find and coordinate with other liberty-minded activists. Collaborated on, and promoted by members of Ron Paul Forums, the Freedom Atlas is your best way to get in touch with other Freedom groups in your area.

If you would like to notify us of a new group or modify an existing one please use the contact form in the right hand column of this page. "

I thought about all the cool groups we have here in NH, but most of them have some kind of leadership, even if it's just an organizer on meetup, and I wouldn't want to post someone else's group if they didn't want to be listed. Besides, they want to know details about the location of the group that I may not be privy to.

You could try contacting the various leaders and asking them if it is OK to post info about the group.  If you aren't sure what info to post, ask them to clarify that for you.

Good idea - I was hoping the right people would see this thread and be inspired to do it themselves, but if that's what it takes. I think the Free State Project itself, Free Keene, the Shire Society, and the various groups with regular meetups such as the Merrimack Valley Porcupines or whatever the name is, would be a good starting place. I will post this over to shiresociety forum as well, and see what people think.

Posted to shiresociety forum (http://forum.shiresociety.com/the-shire-society/freedom-atlas/), am hoping since it is a way to promote the FSP, that people will go for this idea. Really the only thing I need for most groups is to go on their website and get a contact email and group description.

I'm not sure it would match the map's purpose to list events, rather than groups, but that would just obliterate whatever was going on elsewhere in the country.

I just added the KSC SSDP, UNH NORML, Nashua Liberty Social, TekArts and Free Keene (Social Sundays) groups.

I also informed the site that Plymouth Review and Plymouth State University YAL are no longer active.

Good - thanks for doing that. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have shown up on the map yet. Did you get anything saying there was going to be a delay, or someone needed to approve it first?

No.  I did not receive an email.  I've added groups in the past.  I don't remember if they were actually added or not.

For more on how it works, I recommend posting about it on RPFs.

I went to check if any of the events I added were actually put on the website.  The website is down.  I don't know if it is gone for good.
