Statistics can be tricky...

It's probably true that NH is one of the least bigoted states, but the "hate crime" numbers are not a good way to prove this. From what I understand, the classification of what constitutes a "hate crime" can vary drastically. NH's ethnic homogeneity also makes violence between members of different ethnic groups less likely, and the low fertility rates / older population makes crime less likely in general. Even the climate is a factor - more crime happens on hot summer days, and you obviously have less crime when it snows out and people sit in their homes...
