The Hippo, local arts and culture newspaper, has a writeup about my handmade Origami star-shaped boxes, which are for sale to raise money for disaster relief efforts in Japan. I have a variety of designs available in various quantities. This project began when I received a set of designer origami paper as a gift, and decided to make my favorite project, the star-shaped box. Then came the news of the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan and I got the idea to sell the boxes to raise money for relief efforts. I first learned how to do origami, the Japanese art of paper-folding, when I was a child and having been practicing the craft throughout the years. The star box is my favorite origami project because it is a simple, elegant design, combining form and function. The boxes are perfect for party favors, decorations, and gift wrap embellishments. Each box has a 1.5 inch-square opening. They are two for a dollar (50 cents each) and I am donating 50% to the Red Cross. I can be reached at caroline.liebenow@gmail.com. (Since the Hippo is published in B&W, I am also including a color photo to better show the vibrant colors of the Origami)
