This might not be as bad as it looks, but it looks pretty bad. I hope there's a way all the time and effort of the people involved can be reincarnated into another form.

People who "might" have attended, "almost" losing money, is pretty much a yawn.
More problematic are all those people who would have/might have/were planning on/thought about/probably would have showed, but, being independent-minded anarchists and libertarian-types, felt it an affront to their independence to be forced into actually making as commitment to attend...and then to actually abide by the [gasp! horror! rules and requests!] once there.

Yawn for you, $$ to others..then again, you could be independently wealthy. For some of us, taking a week off and flying round trip across the continent takes planning..and a commitment from the planners to mean what they say. My trust in this group is less for it. Not a great recruiting plan. |

1776, I am deeply sorry for your lose. For you lost in trust, for the few dollars to the maybe $1000s that you lost because of this. I can assure you, the event wasn't canceled to cause problems. In fact, it was canceled in large part to reduce such problems for yourself and the FSP itself. It may or may not have been the correct decision but it was made and we have to move on. You are, of course, still welcome to come to NH at any time. Liberty folks visit NH at every time of the year and have a great time. I do recommend visiting around an event if possible (Porcfest, Live Free or Die Rally, Free Keene Fest). Again, while I didn't cancel the event, I can assure you nothing negative was meant towards you and in fact, the exact opposite was meant. |

Liberty Forum 2011 is essentially a media/business project. While I would have been pleased to attend Liberty Forum 2011 it seems that my plans will have to change. If the Liberty Forum project leaders are saying that Liberty Forum 2011 needs to be stopped, then maybe it does need to be stopped. In my experience, business projects all too often take on a life of their own and continue as a death march even after all the participants know they should have been stopped. If the outlook for Liberty Forum 2011 is truly that bleak, then I prefer that the FSP not throw good money after bad.
Moving to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project is like sex, everyone told me how good it was, but it was much, much better.

I don't doubt it. You don't know me, but I have been keeping an eye on things and appreciate your work. While I believe that this will turn out (better than) ok in the end, it is frustrating to see one of the 2 major annual FSP events cancelled. I worry a little about the perception it project and the publicity drop-off between the original and the revamped events. That's all. It's disappointing; it'll be fine; it is what it is. |

I find it hard to feel bad for people who have nothing more than 'intentions' and still want to throw a temper tantrum that they aren't getting the toy they wanted after a grand totoal of what, 10 posts? |

Nevertheless, I think it's unfortunate anytime the FSP does anything that unnecessarily conveniences anyone. I've been active in FSP leadership (to get active you just volunteer) for years and I want the FSP to do as little harm (or even potential harm) as possible while helping as many people get the message as possible. The people activists we get in NH, generally, the better. 1776, please don't let this extremely small set back sour you to the idea of trying to make the world a better place. As far as I'm concerned, 10 hours over the course of a month doing liberty activism in NH is generally more useful than spending 100 hours doing similar activism in another state. |

I'm not here on this forum to compare freedom penis size, I am sure Mrs Thom S is very very content ... my actions in fighting for liberty go far beyond this blue and white screen..and long before there was even a FSP. I am only here to learn about this group..and certainly we don't need a group, but it makes sense to mass our efforts. I am here to see if FSP is group with whom I would like to associate. Given the responses here and the numerous PMs about you..I conclude you do not represent the sentiments of very many people and so I will continue to investigate FSP. I'm not sure where you live..but if you lived 2000 miles away..you would have to get vacation time approved, deconflict family schedules, set aside money..all things that cost time (and hassle with work). I just think I value my time a bit more..that's not a tantrum lol. Best, 1776 |
