Good morning - I have suggested this one privately and am very confident in this speaker. Juan Carlos Hidalgo. He is in charge of Latin American political studies at the Cato Institute. He has told me that he would love to have the opportunity to come up to speak. He helped run the Presidential campaign of Otto Guevera in Costa Rica during their 2002 Presidential election. He has a very strong liberty mind and is well-respected for his research on the political systems in Latin America. He would bring an interesting "worldly" viewpoint to how we are doing things in NH and in the United States. His Cato page is up at http://www.cato.org/people/juan-carlos-hidalgoThank you for asking for suggestions! Cam +1. This could be an interesting speaker.

Hayek vs. Keynes Rap Guy John Pappola. He would be an epic presenter on how to effectively tell a story. Would be very nice for tips on convincing people with activist videos and the like. Homeschooling I'd recommend a speaker on the topic of homeschooling. The Homeschool Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) seems to me to be quite an effective lobbying force which uses pressure from individual families across the US to bombard representatives in one state whenever a controversial piece of legislation comes along. While I'm not particularly a fan of any sort of in-the-system efforts, I would say HSLDA has been more effective than most any other group I've seen. I'd recommend Michael Ferris: http://www.hslda.org/speakers/speaker.asp?s=13FIJA While I don't know any speakers in particular for this topic, I think it would be a great topic to really emphasize. Rich, for paying, I'd seek folks outside of the usual liberty circles that could draw others, especially NH natives. Like John Stossel, Ron Paul, Glenn Jacobs/Kane and Judge Napolitano in past years. From your list, my preference would be Naomi Wolf, if she is still important in liberal circles (I know she has been influenced by Lew Rockwell lately). Penn Jillette would also help bring in others, and maybe Jesse Ventura. ***** Absolutely love the John Pappola idea. If he isn't available (he has another project in production), try Russ Roberts, host of EconTalk and the technical half of the rap. Another economics idea (not quite free market) would be the Freakonomics authors/bloggers. For homeschooling, I'm less enamored of HSLDA, unless we round them out with other education leaders. Having John Taylor Gatto two(?) years ago was amazing, and was a huge draw for one-day passes. In the past, we've almost always had "tracks" on ganja and guns. Last year we had a free market/anarchist/outside the system track, which should continue. Two years ago we had an education track, which I'd love to see again, but with different speakers - Alan Schaeffer from Separation of School and State is great, but has presented for several years. Education track ideas: Dr. Art Robinson, homeschooler, creator of Robinson Curriculum, current candidate against DeFazio in Oregon Gary North - writer, advocate of online revolution in schooling Salman Khan - creator of Khan Academy videos / learning system Andrew J. Coulson or Neal McCluskey, Center for Educational Freedom, Cato Institute Lisa Snell, Director of Education Policy, Reason Foundation (has spoken before) Brett Veinotte or aaron0883 from the School Sucks podcast Michelle Rhee - DC public school reformer ousted my mayoral election *** Key Idea: Producers/Directors/Writers from recent films. Include screenings *** Waiting for "Superman" http://www.waitingforsuperman.com/Two Millions Minutes http://www.2mminutes.com/The War on Kids http://www.thewaronkids.com/

Great suggestion. I do need to spend some more effort on arts/media people. Homeschooling
There will be an education track. Def some discussion of homeschooling. Not sure HSLDA is the #1 choice, given how many other efforts have been started in the last two years. Would rather give one of the grassroots efforts some time. FIJA
I may be able to add this to a legal/police track I'm putting together. I know Dick Marple wants to come back as an exhibitor for FIJA. And given the new support informed juries will have in the statehouse, may be very topical.

That is a big goal of mine, to get cross-promotion and bring fresh voices and new faces to the Forum. Penn Jillette would also help bring in others, and maybe Jesse Ventura.
Both asked. Education track ideas:
Thanks for these. Producers/Directors/Writers from recent films. Include screenings.
Already working on this thread. Thanks for a new suggestion.

If it hasn't been mentioned before... Judge Napolitano's freedomwatch has been filmed in front of other audiences.

Actually, Stossel has his own show now, too, that is filmed in front of live audiences.

I don't know of anyone that could talk on this subject, but maybe someone does. I think it would be great to get someone to speak on getting manufacturing jobs back to America. We need to get back to independency on each other and not losing our profits to international corporations.

I'll not opine on America needing any particular jobs, but I am planning on having a speaker talk about starting a business in NH. We have plenty of Porcupine entrepreneurs, I want to help them all be as successful as possible. There are some great resources here which many people may not know about. Plus those who've made the attempt can offer their own experience good and bad.

I think that traditional manufacturing is a dead cow, but micro-manufacturing might be worth looking into. http://makezine.com/magazine/ and things like that are interesting. A speech/demo of modern micro-manufacturing and how it is going to change how stuff is produced could be targeted to how it will affect our freedoms. Doesn't Shuvom still work for a place that makes 3D printers? They might have someone local who might have some interesting thoughts.

well you can always promote one of the speakers to keynote .... I bet most people will come anyhow. I might be wrong, but it doesn't seem like too many people choose to get tickets based on the one speaker. you could really pack them in for an IP debate that night ..... have a buffet and it could turn into a food fight Ridley and others would turn it into quite a bit of news
