What is Freedom?
« on: January 28, 2013, 11:05:04 am »

Some would say free will does not exist, that we are hopelessly and inextricably bound to fate and predetermined ends.  Others would say that everything is chaotic and it is inconsequential that we struggle to enact change.  But really, it does not matter what one believes as our actions clearly have reactions.   Freedom is power, plain and simple.  The power to actualize that which is potential, the power to overcome resistance, the power to control one's self.

Some confuse Freedom with licentiousness.  These are not equivalent.  Is a hedonist that seeks only fleeting pleasures truly free?  Or is this person bound by self imposed fetters of passion?  How about the slave master, is he free?  His identity is based upon the relationship with the slave.  What if the slave revolts, or dies?  What will the slave master be then?  Someone truly free does not impose, for they understand how unalienable, God given Rights work.  They understand that as reflections of the Supreme Individual we are powerful, and that with this power comes responsibility.  For the Supreme Individual is the zenith of all that is Good, of all that is True, and all that is Sacred.

So whether you are a Christian or an Atheist, a Jew or a Hindu you can see that the individual is where all things begin and end.  It is up to us to create and valuate whatever reality we want.  The truth is inside.
