I've been wondering just exaclty how often folks cross the borders to purchase booze, smokes, etc.
I heard about the state of MA trying to enact a tax on NH tire install places, wondering how many other things MA residents, specifically from Boston, load up on NH goods. I've seen on this site that people are moving in droves from the High Tax State to the south of Manchester

When the Nazis came for the communists, I said nothing; I was, of course, no communist. When they locked up the Social Democrats, I said nothing; I was, of course, no Social Democrat. When they came for the trade unionists, I said nothing; I was, of course, no trade unionist. When they came for me, there was no one left who could protest. This is why we must fight for all

I see Mass plates very time I go to the state liquor stores. I remember one lady buying like 8 gallons of booze at once. She was either stocking up or throwing one hell of a party.

Yep pretty much every border town and up words to Manchester. Just out of curiosity anyone know if MA charges full sales tax on groceries? Saw at least 3 mass plates at the MarketBasket in Londonderry, that seems a little far to drive for groceries. Also think about things that MA residents can't buy in MA, but are available in NH : stuff like fireworks and I heard MA outlawed tattoo parlors for a bit before allowing them again.

MA doesn't charge any sales tax on unprepared food but like many states with a sales tax defines food different than the average person. There are 100 reasons why you might see MA plates at a store in Londonderry. For example, the economy is a lot better in NH so maybe they were in town for work. Not to mention that Market Basket sales more than just food.

I live in Nashua and work and MA. I'm the only person in the office who doesn't live in MA (even though everyone in the office is freedom loving people). Even though they all live close downtown Boston they go to NH to get cheap liqueur, and buy big ticket items they don't want to pay sales tax on like TVs and such.
